How the Oculus Rift Will Revolutionize Gaming and Possibly The World

JT Ripton of TheKoalition writes:
Gaming has been around for about 40 years. From bulky 4kb cartridges to 50+ GB Blu-ray discs, and from joysticks to motion controls, it remains clear that the way the world plays video games has significantly evolved. It started with the Magnavox Odyssey in 1972 and throughout the years the design of gaming systems, how they're played, and what they're used for has progressed a great deal. (Oculus Rift, PC, Tech, The Gallery: Six Elements)

remember in the 1990's, VR was suppose to be the revolutionary invention, only lasted a few months before it was dead in the water.
Foxgod  +   521d ago
Yes, but its more then 20 years later, technology has advanced and became cheaper.
aliengmr  +   521d ago
Didn't have HD screens that small either in the 90's.

In the 90's a couple hundred MB was all the HDD space you would ever need.

Remember the pager? The 90's does.

Back in the 90's VR was a pipe dream, but tech has advanced since then.

Will it cure cancer and pay my bills and heal my eyes?
dcj0524  +   521d ago
Yes. It also gives you heat vision and improves your eye sight.

LOL.

If ms or sony sign a exclusive deal with oculus it could be a game changer.
dcj0524  +   521d ago
They said they are trying to get it to as many people as possible. So probably XBOX ONE and PS4. Imagine this with PS MOVE 2 or KINECT 2.Mind Blown.
Veni Vidi Vici  +   521d ago
Not exactly sure how the Kinect could safely be used with this. You can't see your surroundings. You don't want to be flailing your arms and legs around when you can't see what's around you. On top of that, you NEED! buttons.

Sony's Yoshida has said that Sony has Oculus Rift dev kits and that he loves it. Playstation support is very possible.

I need one! As soon as this releases I am getting it. I want to play a Privateer type game on the rift :)
naiyo  +   521d ago
If the game isn't in first person, would it just be like wearing 3D glasses like in Uncharted 3?
