Woooooooooo 50cal. Loved bfbc2 using the 50cal and listening to it sound like thunder echoing through the battlefield :P

Bringing the thunder.

its going to be a super weapon kinda thing. Those kinds of guns will be in the map waiting to be picked up by one lucky dude :P

wasnt it told that the 50 cal. would not be listed in character weapon list, but rather deposited on maps instead?

The_Sneauxman1068d ago

yes and Jackfrags from Youtube had said in one of his E3 BF4 Multiplayer Pre-Alpha videos that they are also a One-Hit Kill.. I'm sure there's a catch to using it, like long reload time, or limited mag

elhebbo161068d ago

The catch is that once the ammo runs out the weapon is useless i think.

Matt6661068d ago

One hit kill just like it would be in real life so I find that a positive to bf4

i agree with all of you, awesome to finally have a real sniper rifle (like that of Bad Company 2) again in Battlefield but after playing BF3,i suspect something will give while using it,maybe terrible load time and lack of ammo (as mentioned for both),or possibly speed of player, ability of carrying other weapons, etc.? people will complain about it too,to try and ban the gun i'm thinking too, because being less skilled using it or dying a lot from players using it against them.

Want to see the video, but it's gone!! -.-

Now that is a serious boom stick!

Aren't .50 cal snipers supposed to be used primarily for disabling enemy vehicles? As opposed to taking out human targets? I would hope this weapon can be used to penetrate jeeps, ATVs, boats, and even choppers/jets.

There is not one bit of literature that states a .50 caliber sniper rifle is not to be sued against human "soft" targets.

.50 cal ammo types specifically used against soft targets.

Cartridge, Caliber .50, Ball, M2
This cartridge is used against personnel and unarmored targets. This bullet has an unpainted tip.

Cartridge, Caliber .50, Ball, M33
This cartridge is used against personnel and unarmored targets. Can be fired from the M82/M107 series of rifles.

Cartridge, Caliber .50, Ball, XM1022
A long-range match cartridge specifically designed for long range work using the M107 rifle.

Cartridge, Caliber .50, M1022 Long Range Sniper
The .50 Caliber M1022 has an olive green bullet coating with no tip ID coloration. The projectile is of standard ball design. It is designed for long-range sniper training and tactical use against targets that do not require armor-piercing or incendiary effect. It exhibits superior long range accuracy and is trajectory matched to MK211 grade A. The M1022 is ideal for use in all .50 Caliber bolt action and semi-automatic sniper platforms.

.50 cal rifles and rounds are also used in hunting animals at long range. At close range the weapons system and cartridge are too destructive.

I personally never understood why of all the weapons deployed in war, the .50 cal is singled out as some magical weapon not used on human targets when it is absolutely used.
