Heavy- San Diego Comic Con 2013: PS4 Hands-On Impressions

Not only did Heavy get to experience Microsoft's next-gen console (the Xbox One), Heavy also got to experience Sony's PlayStation 4. The system was on full display for every interested passerby to see, plus there were plenty of TV's displaying all the game trailers everyone needed to see. Sony's SDCC 2013 presence was strong with all types of upcoming titles for the PS3 and PS Vita, but Heavy made sure to zero in on the PS4. Heavy came away with a few impressions of the console, the controller and the one PS4 game that was featured - Knack.

The story is too old to be commented.

Are they packing a camera in or not? They sure make it look that way :/

lsujester1069d ago

Looks like they were more showing it off than anything. However, I do firmly believe they intended to pack it in originally, with the controller having the LED and Playroom being pre-installed. Fine by me that it's not though, as I'd just as soon not pay for something I will likely never use.

No. You actually have a choice. Strange, huh? It's not that confusing, they're actually upfront w/ gamers. Strange, huh?

Oh dear.... Sony are the heroes so far this gen but lets not forget how bad they were just a few years ago when the PS3 launched.......

I am looking forward to PS4 as much as most but sony need to be asked some more questions.....The hardware looks to be great, but...

Gaikai rollout? When? Where?
Planned online infrastructure upgrades to compete with MS?
Only knack playable @SDCC?

MariaHelFutura1069d ago

Gaikai- Early 2014 and brought out in phases.

Infastructure- Gaikai is helping them build it, it's funded by PS+ now and PSN has been advancing more hastily than XBL.

Knack- Who knows?

This amused the hell out of me. Read it in Victor Meldrew:

"The console is noticeably larger than the slim PS3 model that's currently on the market. The box design and diagonal corners of the physical architecture are two features that jumped out at me immediately. The edges of the system make the console look a lot bigger than it really is, plus those same edges could present a problem for gamers with a unique living room setup."

Over all though, a very good read.

Out of al the awesome launch games why knack? It looks so lame...

staticdash221069d ago

Because its for the kids. People need something for their family to play don't they. I never can wrap my head around the hardcore keep bashing games & calling stuff generic & bland when its not even targeted for you. Knack is a family game. Lots of people don't like all of the highly violent games, maybe something a little more light hearted. This makes Knack an essential purchase for them. I know for a fact I'll be buying the game for my family. The only problem is that I think Knack should be priced at $40. That's a great price & offers a lot of flexibility.

CRAIG6671069d ago

Whatever, SDCC IS FOR THE HARDCORE CROWD PERIOD.
Family games are cool, I have 2 young sons and a daughter, But guess what, they have no idea what E3/SDCC or gamescom is.
It's this very time they should be showing the hardcore what's ahead, when they start attacking mainstream media with their massive advertising campaigns is the time to wow the family/casual market...
So yeh nice theory.

I think Knack looks interesting, the less manly blow everything up army games the better.

PositiveEmotions1069d ago

Im getting knack even if it looks lame because it also looks fun :)

CRAIG6671069d ago

I will probably get it if I come across a cheap 2nd hand copy to really see for myself, but first thing's first, knack is not near the top of my list.

shibster881069d ago

Battlefield 4 top of my list, then killzone/drive club

lsujester1069d ago

Watch Dogs for me, just so I can walk around and get people's personal info. My inner Creeper is most pleased.

Bigpappy1069d ago

He had a lot more to talk about in the X1 preview. But he still made it clear that he is a PS guy, which I am fine with by the way. He did a very clean non-fanboy report in both articles.
