Ubisoft released today a new gameplay video of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag showing a whopping 13 minutes of open world gameplay set in the Caribbean.
More like "open world minigame gameplay".
Eh, doesn't look that minigame-ish to me to be honest.
Maybe because the naval minigame is becoming the full game. hehe
That must be the Ps4 version.
Yeah, I'm surprised how many devs are favoring the PS4 version for demos.
Its the ps4, confirmed by Eurogamer, details that give us clues is the fact that the foliage has its own physics that moves as you hide in it, which is discussed in great length in the Digital foundary write up. I don't think too much that its because Revs favor the PS4, I think its more to do with Sony AGGRESSIVELY marketing the ps4 and securing partnerships with key publishers for certain titles...UniSoft has always shown off PS footage of their games due to the partnership in-place. Much like the new partnership for bungie with Activision and the rumored partnership Sony has with Epic as well as Edios square and Warner Bros interactive.
@Sevir I don't need Eurogamer to tell me it's the PS4 version. The button prompts give it away.
Wow this looks so much better than I thought it would. This video has sold me.
That looks head and shoulders better than the last 2 installments. Waypoints as fast travel points, seamless boat to land, WHALES!!! I'm excited to play this game!
Same here. After AC III I was a little put off by AC IV. But now that I see, it's gameplay more and more, it looks really fun. I'm mostly excited about the pirate theme to it. Ship battles, crew recruiting and treasure hunting etc... Going to have to add this to my PS4 collection.
looks good, im interested in this game. i love the pirate gameplay - just a shame they are bringing back the creed.
I wish i was a pirate
i hope the game does well but am going wait for a $20 price point
I hope it sinks for becoming more casual, unpolished and uninspired every entry, but at a 20 price point, AC 22.214.171.124 may be worth a try.
Why exactly does it look unpolished to you?
sitting behind a computer at a desk hoping that a game that is the culmination of over two and a half years of hard work from seven talented studios as in at least 100 developers with families of their own is really sad and immature of you, gamers wanna be respected yet they say comments like "i hope this game sinks" each person that worked on this game has done more work in their life then YOU, but i guess in your mind making three huge cities, creating several minutes of new animations (an animation usually last 3-10 seconds), creating 50 unique locations isn't considered hard work to you -_-
@ CrossingEden If the amount of resources was the only factor determining the quality of the game then it would be a fair point. How many dev's worked on AC3? They have families, wonderful, but this is not a charity. If they can't make a quality game then they should leave it to the people who can. If a game does not match up to the quality they portray when they show off videos like this then it deserves to tank.
@CrossingEden Well, first, what do you know about me to say that "each person that worked on this game has done more work in their life then (sic)" me? What do you know about them? Do you realize how stupid is your rage and prejudice? How would you compare art making and "real world" needs to say what is "doing more"? Okay, too hard for you. Second, Dark Witness answered it. If a game is getting worse and worse, if they are treating it like CoD, calling AC126.96.36.199 as AC4 (and people like you fall on and support this), I really think these schemes shouldn't get along and I hope for this business to fail, leaving room to DECENT business, innovation and quality. Gamers want to be respected and that's WHY they hope this milking stops. FFS, they probably spent more on marketing than development. Third, I'm not a grammar nazi. I don't even have english as native language... But google "then" and "than".
How is it becoming more casual? Since when is adding more features making things casual?
Given how many features have been added to the games over the years, I really don't see how you get off calling the games casual.
Looks absolutely gorgeous. I may be buying this and FIFA day 1 for PS4
the synchronization points doubling as fast travel points is really damn helpful.
Yep, considering how big the world is :D
Agree. But considering how view points just got so much more important than ever before, I wish they would be harder to reach and much more well guarded as well. Give me a challange!
Having got a bit bored of asscreed this game has me interested again, it looks great both visually and in terms of gameplay depth. "seamlessness" - it's a win.
It looks a good game but a good game I've already played about 6 or 7 times already. I'm past fatigue with this series, they definitely milked it too much too quick and I probably won't bother with this one until its in the bargain bin.
Cool story, about the only developer who doesn't milk a franchise that sells this much is Rockstar.
were you being sarcastic?
Is the combat in this game going to be harder? My problem with the AC games is that by mid game combat becomes completely trivial as my assassin turns into a mass murder who can plow through dozens of guards.
And isn't it incredibly fun to take out half a city worth of guards? I doubt it'll be much harder than the last one. I hope they change the control scheme back though.
Looks really nice.
I'm actually warming to it and may purchase it at launch. I am sceptical of it but the sea does look gorgeous and I like the sea shanty aspects and such
It looks pretty it's a shame the combat still looks shitty.
bubble for you couldnt agree more
I really liked how there were battles going on between other factions, really adds to the world. The whale jumping out of the water also looked awesome, The storm part was just awesome. I really like all the immersive features the game has and the depth to even travelling around the world is awesome. The changes from on ship to on foot gameplay are also impressive and allow for player experimentation. The combat and stealth however still look like they haven't been expanded upon and look to easy and simplistic. They still need a compelling main character and a good story.
looks awesome gameplay-wise.
The sad truth is that I get excited for every new AC game, because I LOVED AC2 and AC Brotherhood, but I got very quickly bored of the last two games. I got the same feeling for this one. It does look awesome tho.
720p video? really? are we in 2006 again? BTW They should call this game Pirassassin's of the caribean...
What happened to sword fights that required at least a little skill? Now you can just stylishly shoot people instead. Oh well i just wont support lazy sell-out devs and rent it instead. Might aswell call it "Call Of Pirates"
"But as we zoom out" OH MAH GAHD. I want to explore that world. Looks like the button input to climb is back as well, I think? Hopefully.
when he was zoomed in i just thought that was a big part of the map....then he kept zooming out and my god it is huge. haha
*cough* that's what she said.
is this PS3 or 4?
I'm hoping its PS3 footage, because that doesn't look next gen in the slightest, probably because its a cross gen release.
It's PS4. It definitely looks next-gen for a launch title that's being developed also for PS3 and X360.
Woo! Dang, that looks crazy awesome. Also, in only a matter of about a month, I already see many noticible improvements over the E3 build. Can't wait to play this along with the other 5 games I pre-ordered for PS4!
After seeing this video i must say this game just get in my radar, actually is the first time i´m excited about a AC game since the first one and the first AC2
Ass creed... the new COD. Rinse and repeat development focused solely on $$$.
Game is lookin good
Looks a lot better than AC3.
This is actually the first AC title that has really caught my interest ... looks very promising. Might have to pick up a used copy of the original games before I decide to preorder Black Flag
Yarr i like it... yarrr.
In some aspects this game looks stunning and in other it looks as if this game is lingering in the current gen. The character Models just look bland and the animation is greatly recycled. Digital foundary echo's my sentiment that when AC no longer has the PS3/Xbox360 and WiiU as its baseline platforms and is actually a Next Gen platform title then the game will make significant jumps... The last games use to drop to 20 fps, from their assessment the Next gen versions, will have a solid 30 fps and 1080p output.
So day one.... details everywhere... see the Dolphins underwater in the opening seconds? Man, this game looks great!
Now bring me that horizon!
That actually impressed me in the slightest way possible. They have a great concept but I am almost sure that they will f*ck it up somehow, since well they are Ubisoft. Rockstar could have done a better job at it.
2nd AC game I want to play. ^~^ I've played the Vita game.
Damn this looks really good!! Im sold on it.
