Ginx:Forget Rome, the Homestead or Constantinople, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag gives you the Caribbean – an open world archipelago ripe for the taking. Bring. Us. That. Horizon. Yes, this is the next generation of Assassin’s Creed – an open world built on an epic scale. With well over 50 unique locations – cities, forts, temples – compared with AC 3’s paltry 3 main areas; Black Flag has a world rich with buried treasure, deep sea mystery, big game hunting and explosive action. It’s also a world that you can fully roam – seamlessly from helm to harbour without the need for a loading screen. Ever. Not once. And whilst the Assassin’s games have always opted for bloated map screens stacked with tiny little icons all screaming for your attention, Black Flag feels like the first Creed title that really warrants a good deal of time sunk into its Caribbean exploration.
