Speaking with Siliconera, Matt Dahlgren, fighting game manager at Capcom, said "Darkstalkers Resurrection did not perform as well as we would have liked to perform. You never know what the future may hold, but Street Fighter is definitely not dead."
Go figures . I'm a DS fan but without an actual and serious demand , not just empty wishes , they wouldnt risk a brand new ps3/360 and even less next gen Darktalkers , at least for now . People can complain all they want about Capcom , but it's one of the first time outside emu we had access to DS games in perfect arcade quality , with features added , and yet none came .
I wouldn't release Darkstalkers on consoles either. If they can't get proper funding from Resurrection, then it makes sense not to revive it just yet. I don't know how else they can spread the word other than testing it on the arcades first kinda like what they did with Capcom Fighting Jam (the 3D version).
This saddens me as well. It actually sold well in its first week but then dropped off immediately. Darkstalkers 4 and Rival Schools 3 are the two fighting games I wanna see come out in the future the most but Capcom won't ever do that in their current state.
