The Nintendo Wii and its graphical capabilities has always been a source of great debate. The Nintendo Fan Alliance, delves deeper into the subject in an attempt to help answer this timeless question.
"The Debate Continues, Is The Wii Too Under Powered?" Yes.
Too under powered?
Grammar check? Is it worth a report?
I am sure it's just 'Under powered' or 'Too weak'.
Yes, but does that bother ninty? No, because it prints money.
Yes, but does it bother gamers?
On the otehr hand:
Does it bother the Wii's demographic?
Just think if it didn't look like you were playing N64... I would probably get one, but I can't get myself to pick one up. Terrible games with terrible graphics give me a terrible system.
Some people may think it is but I really am having a good time with the Wii. I will even admit I was a person who hated the way Nintendo was acting in the beginning. Like naming the system Wii over Revolution.
Just different things like that and I really do enjoy it. Yes I wish it was more powerful but I still have a great time with it. Plus Many games use the Gamecube controller still so that also is a plus.
I do agree with the article the Wii really is a nice system and I for one still think that the Wii can do more then what was already shown.
"Plus Many games use the Gamecube controller still so that also is a plus." If you use the gamecube controller, whats sets the gamecube apart from the wii? ...Slightly better graphics?
Underpowered and should of had an HDD.
did super mario galaxy rock the game world even more than the first sonic? ummmm nope
Sales numbers suggest that people don't seem to care. I bought one for the family, and they're perfectly content with it.
The Wii is a fantastic console for those gamers who appreciates all genres. It has AAA classics, access to retro games, Opera browser and a wide variety of games. It came from out of no-where to become the top selling console this gen and will continue to do so.
I switch from SFA3 on dreamcast to Resistance on PS3 to Twilight Princess on Wii. And im a gamer that has 13 consoles and actively buys games.
The Wii isn't necessarily under powered. Nintendo designed it as they do most of their consoles: to do something different than everybody else, and in that, they generally succeed. I don't think they wanted to pour as much money into making a true "next-gen" console and decided they wanted to make a slight variant on the GameCube, which was already graphically capable, and add a fancy controller. If you're comparing it to the big boys that are the PS3 and 360, then yes it's under powered. If you look at it as a standalone console doing it's own thing, it's not.
Yea, they use different ideas and thats why the Wii is just right for the "casual gamer."
underpowered to render content on 1080p and 7.1 Surround sound? yes.
underpowered to play games and deliver Fun? no.
Is the DS underpowered? yes to the PSP it is
but we all see that it doesn't make a f*cking difference.
Yesterday i started playing Game and Watch gallery 3 again, and Turtle bridge got me hooked.....i mean really these articles are just flame bait.
PS360. Yes definitely. But Nintendo wanted to do its own thing and while Sony and MS beat each other to a bloody pulp Nintendo continues on selling out its "Gamecube 1.5"
Gameplay does. Thats a fact. If your game is the most beautiful game ever made but plays like a brick then its still a crap game but if a game looks like crap but plays well then its still a great game.
... but unfortunately it appeals to the same people that once accused gamers of rotting their brains for playing video games. Funny...
IMO if you mean multi format wise then yes and it will soon start to show.
As a games machine, no. Graphics seem to matter more and more and they shouldn't. Yes they are nice and can enhance the gaming experiance, but they should not define on wither or not a game is good or not. In that respect - gameplay the Wii can keep up with the PS3 and 360 just fine. And that is where it matters.
I bought a wii (when I was drunk, as you've all read by now) and it's a good console. Sure the graphics aren't HD and it's all rehashed Nintendo games, but they're fun and the Wii does have it's purpose.
over graphics. However, it would nice to have a few new games for the wii. Graphics are not the only reason to play a game ... it's just eye candy :)
The sales speak for themselves, and sony is just embarrassed that a underpowered system is kicking their over priced system all over the world. If graphic mattered the ps3 would be in 1st, but it's not because visuals don't make up for terrible games with bad gameplay. "If you use the gamecube controller, whats sets the gamecube apart from the wii? ...Slightly better graphics?" If people bought the ps3 that's basically a ps2 with the same controller what sets those apart...slightly better visuals?
who's debating that ..? only sony fanboy and microsoft fanboys. and guess what wii is beating both systems
