Mr Aonuma tired of the Zelda Formula. Good news – I have some ideas for you

mii-gamer:

I enjoyed Skyward Sword immensely – so much more than Twilight Princess. Skyward Sword introduced many new elements into the Zelda formula such as upgradeable weapons, the dash button and the motion controls. However, not all is good the game, with Skyward Sword they took one step forward and then two steps back for the series – no exploration, dumb fetch quests, uninspired storytelling and the dreaded handholding – it was a great game but it could have been so much more.

We are at the point in the series illustrious history where something needs to give – it is a case of innovate or perish into the realm of irrelevancy.

Guns! It needs guns and Link has to shave his head. /s

PopRocks3591101d ago

Gears of Zelda? Yeah... no thanks.

Len1101d ago

Ok,Internet for dummies time.
/s = Sarcasm. :3

Is that like an automatic defense mechanism?
Making exaggerated comments to dismiss any sort of change or criticism because it's somewhat perceived as some form of attack on a Nintendo franchise?
Pathetic. Guns and bald marines are obviously not the answer.

You should try reading the article first.
Evolving the formula helps keep the games engaging and fresh instead of simply relying on the "I've been playing this series since I was a kid" nostalgic fanboy fuel.

I think Zelda is more about the exploration of the world and how in each game he explores differently. The only things i would change about Zelda is the boring slow combat system and making it have a deep complex storyline, give me lore with depth in it.

Also make Link and Zelda have a deep emotional connection with actual writing. I'm surprised to this day there still hasn't been a Zelda game with a epilogue to show Zelda preggars and Link living in the castle with her.

Tiqila1101d ago (Edited 1101d ago )

I like it without focusing on a love story (or deep emotional connection ending up with Zelda pregnant).

That would kill the experience for me. Who would want that (besides you obviously)?

AJBACK2FRAG1101d ago

Hmmm... wild idea. Super stylized black powder rifles or pistols could be really cool old oriental style cannons. Real time reloading, fighting in lines against a freaky alien looking adversary. The Revolutionary war done Zelda style.

Steampunk Legend of Zelda with "Gun like gadgets" would actually fit.

It could be 200 years after Spirit Tracks or something.

The sad thing is that people didn't get the joke even though you put the /s and everything... the sarcasm for me would have been clear even without it.

I think every gamer enjoyed whatever else other zelda, maybe even Link 2 over twilight princess, the most overrated constantly delayed game of all time.

elhebbo161101d ago

I wish they avoided the traditional "go to these 3 temples, then the other 3 then kill the main boss". I want to see something more dynamic.

TongkatAli1101d ago

Yeah, its the same shit with a different way of exploring the world with the same ending and bare bones writing. I wanna give kudos to Majora Mask for being so weird and different from the rest.

elhebbo161101d ago

exactly! when I played MM for the first time I was like, is this a Zelda game? I want to see that type of risk-taking with the next Zelda.

deadeyes1101d ago

l actually enjoyed Twlight Princess and thought Skyward Sword was boring...

PygmelionHunter1101d ago

I enjoyed them almost equaly, neither of them was amazing though, but the art-style in TP was jaw-dropping for me, it's the way I want the next home console Zelda game to look, since it was kinda like an attempt to improve on the OoT art style. Also, I wouldn't mind them using the Wind Waker style again but preferably on portable consoles only.

feraldrgn1101d ago (Edited 1101d ago )

I'd like it if it evolved the combat, I suppose it'd have to look like TP or HD OoT for the animations I'd want, which would be similar to the fluid Witcher combat, you know?

I just think it'd be that much more rewarding in the game, after getting a new sword, or training, if Link started looking like he was becoming a professional swordsman.

I love RPG's, but I wouldn't want Zelda to change the format that much, the hearts are fine, the armour defense/sword strength is fine, heck you could throw in Link's Awakening power ups (Def & Atk).

I would also like a mature storyline, keep it fantasy, but add political intrigue (as long as it fits) that's not to say you can't have a story a child can understand at the same time, that's where good writing comes in I guess.

& obviously have a good level of exploration.
