A Pittsburgh couple is suing Google for invasion of privacy, claiming that the web giant's popular "Street View" mapping feature has made a photo of their home available to online searchers.
These little things seems like the only way for people to make money of these huge companies. Doubt they will win this case though, but who knows.
more ridiculous court cases coming from America. This time its google. I knew this would happen. Google must have known full well before they started doing Street view. When i first heard of street view, i thought it is awesome tool. Positive thing about it is that it helps travellers to get to their destination. Some landmarks and the like. Negative thing - people's privacy(as above), handy tools for Terrorists.
More suits I see..
That's stupid. People always trying to make a dollar out of 15 cents.
If you make a dollar out of 15 cents I want to know how you did it.
By suing the coin maker because the coins clinked together, causing a passerby to enviously want your nickels and steal them from you. Therefore you blame not the person's whose fault it actually is, but the guy with more money so you can get back 15 cents plus more for your "mental suffering".
geese, why would anyone care to even look at that piece of crap house anyway? are they that desperate for money?
This is a great idea, but LMAO at the picture of their PoS hillbilly house.
Too bad Streetview pictures are captured via public streets, where it's legal to record anything that can be seen.
Why don't they sue every plane and helicopter that fly's over their property? I think they just want a quick buck.
Whatever. Screw privacy. People can drive by your house and take pictures and nobody can stop them. People are so worried about privacy it's pathetic. Everyone freaks out about medical records, big deal. I WILL ADMIT I HAVE DEPRESSION, HPV, and I'M an ALCOHOLIC. Now, was that so tough? Who cares about people finding out you have AIDS, you live at whatever address, and your house is painted pink. It's no big deal. If you want privacy, you better stay home because there are street cameras everywhere, watching you do everything on the street from picking your nose, scratching your balls, and buying a bag of weed.
... I'll SUE you!" (!) -sigh- Dumb lawsuits should be punishable by death...
there google tries to make things easier for people and we sue them for most ridiculous things. I mean if they really just wanned to "protect" their privacy they should at least first asked google to remove the images from the site. this clearly shows that they are just trying to get some free cash.
I believe there's a difference between private roads and having private property. As I know it to be, private roads are not covered by public works and are the sole responsibility of the people who service them. Ergo, you shouldn't be driving on it unless invited, but there's nothing really stopping you from taking pictures.
Because they'll need more than $25,000 just to go up against Google and have about that many odds of winning.
