The Wii U Drought is Almost Over

It’s no secret that the Wii U has had a terrible year – decent launch, but terrible year. This situation is extremely frustrating considering that Nintendo had an entire year ahead of the competition to put out convincing content on their 8th generation system and they totally dropped the ball.

That's what I said initially lol.

There's going to be at least one Wii U game a month for the rest of the year, which is definitely a plus for people who already have Wii U consoles. At that point my concern is if Nintendo has anything for the pipeline at the start of next year since Mario Kart won't be out until April.

Nintendo has committed itself to one major release per month per platform.

That's how they got the 3DS off the ground, and that's how they plan to get the WiiU off the ground. And... I think it's gonna work. I mean, hell, I know of a lot of people--myself included--who drove to a local retailer and picked up a WiiU after seeing Nintendo's E3 line-up.

The only thing I'm really concerned about now is the virtual console service. Yeah, it's nice we finally got Earthbound--but there's no reason we should have to wait so long for Wii VC games to be ported to WiiU VC, especially when the WiiU versions are already up in other regions.

Final Fantasy VI, Secret of Mana, Breath of Fire, etc., etc.

Yeah, it just sucks that they jacked up the price of Earthbound after saying $7.99-$8.99 for all SNES games on VC. I know it's just a dollar, but kinda lame to go back on their posted prices for just a buck.

The Wii U drought is just starting.

nonexistence 3rd party support - check
overpriced wii u - check
last gen graphics - check
rehashed and old ports - check
averaging 40k sales a month in NA (ps3 and 360 never went lower 70k) - check

In the end, Wii U will be closer to gamecube's status. completely behind ps4 and xbox one.

3DS was overpriced, and had dropped 3rd party support, underpowered graphics, rehashed old ports and did very poorly in sales. Apart from the hardware and rehashing of old games everything else was solved.

I am not going to jump the gun on the Wii U's fate just yet.

Aww another fanboy, how cute!

No third party? Ok. Deus ex directors cut, Watchdogs, Assassins creed black flag, Project cars, Sonic lostworld, Rayman legends, Splinter cell blacklist, Call of duty Ghosts (most likely), And there are unannounced ones.

Let's see how they handle 2014. Maybe third parties will port games to the thing.

I like the One game a month thing they're doing, but how long can they keep it up? They WERE understaffed at the launch of Wii U, and NOW that they hired more developers, we may not see the pay off until maybe mid to late next year, so Iwata REALLY needs to get on that third party support.

Hes got 2 games exclusive with platinum (including the revival of a dead franchise with bayonetta 2), 3 exclusive sonic games with sega, and fire emblem x shin megami tensei. In my opinion he's on the right track.
