We talk to the lead system architect for the PS4, Mark Cerny, in an exclusive, extensive interview. Find out about the console, the DualShock 4, game development, Knack, the Vita and much, much more below. - PSLS
Sony should release the Vita under the name PS4 Vita.
With all the excitement surrounding the PS4, I'm sure a lot of people would pick up a "PS4 Vita" in anticipation for the console release this November. The name would also give an idea about how connected these two devices can be.
Im sorry but i never liked Insomniac, to me their games technically have always been second rate. Hope you sony fanboys dont bubble me down for my opinion
Mark Cerny is truly a visionary when it comes to building hardware for the future. Glad he took the opportunity to become Sony's lead architect. Just hope now he stays to oversee the development of the PS5.
If you asked someone from Microsofts camp the same question the answer would be.."We have better hardware,by the way did you see the latest NPD numbers the 360 is the highest selling console 30 months in a row!" Sorry I just dislike cocksure people.Cerny is such a humble man and he as a westerner exudes the traditional Japanese character and Sony couldn't have chosen a better spokesperson for the PS4!
That is not correct. They use many symbols that is only one you mentioned, at the time the eye was a different symbol somewhat but it still had the same meaning it always has.
It originally started with the square and compass which also represents a triangle.
It was called the eye of providence, the all seeing eye as you said. Freemasons and Illumanati are one in the same, they use the masonic symbol of G quite often as well.
Here are some images of old free mason symbols and the direct link they still use in our money today. Pretty creepy stuff.
If you align the square and compass on the triangle on the dollar bill it will spell out ASMON These are anagrams, if you rearrange the letters correctly knowing that and knowing it is said the Illuminati worship the devil its pretty easy to figure out then. It will spell MASON when spelled through an anagram.
Pretty fucked up huh? It isn't just some coincidence the triangle on the dollar aligns with their symbol that way and just so happens that symbol points directly to the letters that spell MASON.
Freemasonry is the earliest form of what people call that group the Illuminati. The Illuminati is more of a term or word to describe the group they are, calling them free masons is the proper term.
If you see in the last image, notice how the eye of providence always fits perfectly at the top of the square and compass.
There is also this huge castle in Belgium you might find interesting. It has been gated off for ages, a group there calls themselves The Mother of Darkness. They even have motion sensors and shit just to know if anyone is even near the place. It is scary looking as hell, the castle is also apart of free mason tradition.
Low and behold what do you think is on the castles gates? A big M.
Anyway sorry to go on about this just interesting is all. I love this kind of stuff.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MARK CERNY! SIGN MY MANLY HARD CHISELED CHEST! No but uhh, he's almost as cool as Ken Kutaragi, he's just not too funny though. Ken Kutaragi had this funny vibe.
If Ken Kutaragi had to design the PS4, I'm sure it'd be a bit more advance. I'm still disappointed that I'll never get to see him do an E3 presentation.
I agree. He was/is a genius as well. It would be pretty cool to see what his vision of the PS4 would be, but I feel that perhaps we'll see it vicariously through Cerny. I hope so.
"What I found, just personally, was that after the direction we set with the Vita, the PS4 is so much larger a piece of hardware that it absorbed all of my time."
I liked when he asked him if he had a PS4 at home and Cerny laughed while looking at his PR. We all know you have one, I just want an official release date from you guys.
well at least cerny is willing to talk about the PS4 and Vita. name me one MS pr person who is open and speaks CLEARLY as Cerny with no bs? go ahead take your time.
I like Cerny, he looks like a simple guy doing the job he loves. He doesn't need to make bs statements and that's what makes him a lot more credible than most people in the gaming industry.
There's too many articles about the Xbawkz One these days. So annoying seeing them on this site. It's like who cares about the system anyways? They should cut down on the Xbawkz articles.
I noticed when the interviewer asked about the camera oh boy Mark didn't say a word and it got me to thinking Sony hasn't said a word about the camera features whatsoever other than release a spec sheet. Outside of the Play room demo, we know nothing about the camera, at the reveal it was stated it was designed in concert with the DS4 and that's it. They are selling it day one and with no software support other than the playroom demo. They don't say whether or not it will be supported on the OS level for like signing in facial recog. ect.. They are just sending the camera out to die.
But they're not sending it out for 3-4 months, with two major conventions to go before then. I expect there will be a major tech/function reveal for the camera before release.
"They don't say whether or not it will be supported on the OS level for like signing in facial recog. ect.. They are just sending the camera out to die."
you seem to not get Sony's stance on motion control, maybe i can help with that, Sony has had since the PS2 3 ATTEMPTS TO GET GAMER'S INTERESTED INTO MOTION CONTROL GAMING, AND THE ANSWER SONY IS GETTING IS, WE ARE NOT THAT INTERESTED!
Sony's very own Dr. Marks was the key person who was mainly developing along with a good team of development talent to making motion gaming an added imput I/O user experience for playstation we are talking about pre the year 2000 hell even before the WiiMote was even pitched to Nintendo or Microsoft even looking at the Prime sense 3D depth sensing camera, but it was not ever going to be the main control scheme unless the consumer picked it as the main control scheme.
The fact of the matter is the Eye Toy, or playstation EYE or what ever they are going to keep calling it is included into the core sdk of the playstation by default it is core OS level of development environment, but they allow developer's to choose to use it or not. because with three times now in 10+ year's time the majority of playstation consumer base use for the playstation camera is just pretty much video chatting, and Audio chat through the camera.
Hell when your smart TV already has a camera being built into the TV's Sony is no doubt concentrating on software environment development instead of really worrying about control scheme's of the camera. when Sony already has been heavy invested on a core sdk level with AR user control interactive engagement gaming hell there is over 12 games on the PSVita alone that were released in the first few months of its release for camera AR gaming. hell lots of those are Table Top AR games.
the just of it is while the game's are fun and interesting and i already play many of those and while user control scheme's with a camera are nice ways to add to or interact with the system, its just many gamer's or pretty much tha majority just want a game pad or kb and mouse to game with for control's instead of a camera. at least that is what the majority of playstation gamer's want on playstation.
Sony fans like me don't really care to be on record at any given time. This is not a dig at kinect it's just true that I don't want a camera looking at me while I'm playing games.
I honestly wasn't too surprised. The day the PS Vita (NGP) was announced I had a very strong feeling the PS4 was coming soon. I knew the PS Vita was made alongside the PS4 and I knew that is what it was meant to work with.
Nope, I already knew. However if you look at the internals of both the ps4 and the vita are quite similar in architecture. This is one of the reasons cross play and remote play will be so much easier on ps4. I believe somewhere I heard most games are supposed to come with a vita component/crossplay or some junk, I think that's the technical term tho.
AT least we get strait answers from him. Microsoft has not been so up front. Its always a tweet from a exec of a assistant of a exec from some exec that overheard something from some other exec that was at the watercooler. >.>
I always said the PS4 was being developed with the PS Vita long before we even heard the PS4 was coming. No one wanted to believe me but it made complete sense to me.
I knew the PS4 would come shortly after. That is why I was super stoked about the Vita. People talked mad crap about the Vita and PS3. I constantly kept telling them, you watch the PS Vita was meant for the PS4 not the PS3. The PS3 was never meant for the functionally they have even managed to get out of it. The fact they even got any remote play features Vita wise to work on the PS3 is pretty impressive. PSP had remote but it wasn't as advanced.
Even better knowing it was created by the same person. I can't wait to get a PS4.
So tired of people giving Mark lip also for simply clarifying things that you honestly rarely ever get to hear or see. When have we ever seen a system architect be so willing to share about his experiences like this? No one is going through the trouble to explain the details and inspiration behind the devices they build like he has been.
I absolutely love it. It really shows he has a true passion for what he does and that alone makes me very excited to use the devices he has made.
You would rather just have some lifeless corporate approach? Okay. You could just stop reading these articles if they honestly bother you that much. I don't get the point in complaining about them.
Wow, didn't know he created the Vita too, this man has done everything. Good to see him laughing too, not too serious.
Mark Cerny on PS4 vs Xbox One - "I believe that if we have great games, people will come". Pure class.
Always with the triangles!
seriously, this guy is a legend
I like this guy and demons like me don't really like humans that much all i want to do is eat them when they're next to me
