Thanks for asking questions that we already have the answers to IGN. As always, bringing us top level reporting of last months news.

Good work.

Its always fantastic to see Cerny speak. Its just a shame the interviewers are rubbish.

Well, I thought this interview was very enlightening. I didn't know how he got involved in Knack and it was cool to have him give his thoughts on other games and companies.
iamnsuperman  +   657d ago
He has talked about Knack before. He did mention the reasoning behind Knack on the American talkshow thing (2:37 http://www.youtube.com/watc... ) where they did a One and PS4 feature. It is good he did come up with the idea Knack. If you look at the launch titles there are no family games for the PS4 except for Knack. That would have been a big mistake for Sony when it comes to mass market appeal

Again,

CLOSE UP ON THE FACE

Also, don't you think these interviews are a bit too short? You can easily speak for another 4 mins about the games, then it'd be a decent interview

"The Man Who Made PlayStation 4"

Ignore all the other technicians and programmers and all that ;P

Everyone with half a brain knows he is part of a team. But every frontman gets branded as the maker or creator.

Haven't you ever seen things like: "Steven Spielberg, the creator of ...", or "David Jaffe, the father of ...".

I don't see how this situation with Mark Cerny being the lead architect, and ever since the reveal, the face of the PS4, is any different.

Could you imagine a movie like that?

"From the creator... director... producer... composer... programmers... animators... voice actors that brought you Toy Story 3... Cars... A Bugs Life... Finding Nemo... comes... Toy Story 4..."

So awkward o.O

Exactly...like Ken Kutaragi -Father of Playstation or Miyamoto - Father of Mario.

Of course Mark Cerny did not create the PS4 all by himself, like you said, there are a lot of other people such as technicians and programmers etc.

The thing is, it is Mark Cerny who is the one that decided on what direction to take the PS4. He is the system architect and his job is to design the PS4 on what type of software the system will run on and what type of hardware the system would use for game development.

It is just like how an architect for a famous skyscraper for example would be given credit or be known for that particular structure, the same could be said for Mark Cerny.

Hoorah! I was really starting to miss Mark. We just don't hear enough from him these days.

He's dead butch, isn't he....
The_Klank  +   657d ago
Yet you continue to comment on every article about him, maybe he's YOUR kind of butch.
Thomper  +   657d ago
Oh no..I don't like his eyebrows. Not my type at all.

I'm just having a bit of fun. I like to have a laugh at the expense of his "fans".... And the fact he has "fans" at all

Lolz

Lighten up xxx

Mark Cerny is awesome! 1st american to design a PS console & i think he did great
Cryptcuzz  +   656d ago
I agree. It is also awesome to think about how all the high execs at Sony believed in him from the beginning and were right behind him the whole way.

I am grateful especially to Shuhei Yoshida for being the one guy that really pushed Mark Cerny into being the system architect on the PS4. It is a move that from what is known so far to be the best move Sony could have taken and believe will lead to the PS4 being a major success.
