New Gears Of War Trailer

Microsoft released this awesome trailer of Gears of War on the Marketplace a few hours ago. Incredible trailer, with an excellent musical choice.

The story is too old to be commented.

This game is so much better than i could have imagined anything you see on the internet does not even do this game justice until you see it on an hdtv running at 720p... took long enough to get this on marketplace, but just like the game, its worth the wait!!!

I dont know if this is CG or the Games engine, It looks SO damn good, Almost to good to be true. If this is inengine stuff then im sold.

eques judicii3737d ago

according to major nelson and other sources it is ingame... which is just so hard to believe... but i've got my copy pre-ordered and so i'll know in 13 days (nov 8th at EB games yo!)

THWIP3737d ago

...that indicates real-time gameplay footage, which this obviously is not. But still, like I said, it's a testament to the beauty of UE3.

eques judicii3737d ago

sorry, in-game engine---see my post below

THWIP3737d ago

...but with enhanced visuals over the gameplay, obviously. That's the thing about UE3...you don't have to pay a CGI film company to make your trailers (*cough*Killzone2*cough*), because the engine is so flexible, and easy to use.

"This is the commercial that was played last week at X'06 Canada. It was created entirely with the in-game engine"- Major nelsom

i'm not sure what he means by "in-game engine" but it certainly sounds like it was taken from the gameplay engine... when something is just inengine it means its spiffed up (like halo 2 cutscenes) but i think that this is actually in-game... but like i said, we'll know soon enough ;-)

THWIP3737d ago

...but he really doesn't know his gaming terminology very well. Like I said, the distinction between "in-engine" and "in-game" is whether or not it's from real-time gameplay, or a pre-rendered movie, using the same engine. It's obvious this isn't gameplay, and looks considerably more cinematic than any gameplay we've seen....but it's still in-engine.

eques judicii3737d ago

what needs to be seen is how much they added to this trailer... as in, will this graphical fidelity translate into in-game... i hope it does...

This is the first time i've seen footage of the engine outside of internet sources... running at 720p on my samsung lcd and it looks outstanding.. if the game does look like that sony will have trouble arguing that their system is significantly better graphically (i would say they are on par with each other, with neither system really being better in the graphics department)

LegendaryMark3737d ago (Edited 3737d ago )

Major Nelson does know his gaming terminology :)

Your distinction between "in-game" and "in-engine" is semi-correct, but remember that "engine" can mean more than one thing (e.g. a separate graphics engine like those which they use for CG cinematics). "In-game engine", which is what Major Nelson said, merely means that the engine used in the game was the one that was used to produce the footage. This in no way means that the footage is taken from the game, just that the game engine is used to produce it.

It's just pedantry, but I thought I'd straighten that out for you :)
