''The latest in that brand of Japanese titles featuring anime chicks and lots of dialog has a World Ware II theme, complete with girls in bikinis that sport symbols from the Third Reich.''
that symbol doesn't only mean nazi stuff..indian hindu's use it for a different purpose and have used it for hundreds of years...
The symbol is one of hatred and suffering. It doesn't matter what else it represents, its primary meaning is of the most awful tragedy the world has ever seen, an awful pointless war, and the genocide of millions of Jews. Its tasteless. Period.
the swastika symbol was corrupted by the nazi ideology. Shine is right.
Because knowledge is power! :P http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... There was a world before Nazi-Germany, you know. The swastika has been a common symbol in a lot of cultures all over the globe throughout time, it wasn't invented by the Germans. In the west we instantaneously refer to Germany during WW2 when we see it, but all over Asia you can still see it on temples and such as a symbol of prosperity and good fortune.
You people need to read what he said before trying to act knowledgable. A uniform and a swastika usually mean one thing. Exercise your 3rd grad history history education elsewhere. edit: @Harry: Take a look at the pics, and you'll see It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. Nerve? "Because knowledge is power!" With quotes like these there's not much to be upset about what I said or maybe I should have used a smiley to cover up the hint of accusation?
i'm pretty sure it means a lot more to me than a nazi sign.if you can only see on one side of the matter,i'm sorry for you, but you are being silly.Respect opinion, not meaning,it's not a case of being knowledgeable,it's a case of stating the truth, and i can't understand why disagrees are being given.Explain more. And you've got some nerve to mention the 3rd grade history part.there's only one ignorant in this zone right now.
Usually I'd bite, but the Holocaust is one thing I do not take lightly. This is what I see. Two girls, one with blonde hair and blue eyes, "perfect" features, and other also very attractive, sporting a military-colored piece of clothing, with combat boots and a swastika. I do not see any other indication of those other forms of it. If you looked more carefully at wikipedia, you'd notice that there are different ways of posing the symbol... in the case of this video game, the way chosen is very similar to that of the Nazi.
There are people in this world who still see the sign with terror. To me, the symbol represents Mengele and Auschwitz. Sure the Eastern World can enjoy the symbol for all it is, but it was the western part that suffered the most, and I don't know if you noticed, but japan, europe, and the united states are pretty much the only people who play video games, and were the most affected. Do most people in India even play video games? It has nothing to do with them and their beliefs. There is no question that this use of the symbol should be regarded as offensive.
I wouldn't say the symbol is outright offensive due to it's origins, but you definitely have to look at the context. Like the saying goes, "it's all in the context." Which is why I ask people to take a look at the pictures before making comments for brownie points or a pat on the back since most semi educated people already know the minute points made here on the symbols history. The pictures imply some sadomasochistic fantasy of female dominance with the use of Nazi symbolism, and I can certainly understand if people find it offensive.
at Shine's comment, you will notice that it is not a question of what th symbol represents in this picture.you cannot disagree with his point, that's what i was telling paladios.i was not referring to the picture but to Shine's comment, now if you still can't understand,i leave you people to your disagrees and let you hide behind Holocaust excuses, because clearly my point was not made about this but on something else, which you turned upside down and changed the meaning of. And Paladios may not be Indian but a part of your comment clearly reflects your ignorance. If you want a lecture on the origins of the swatika and nazi philosophy, you should not take what is found in wikipedia as gospel truth.
Talk about ignorance..... No it is not only a Nazi symbol.
i agree with Palodios, he made very valid points, another thing is that Japan was Germans ally during WWII. And harry rofl, you labeled this "Natzi" to how are you saying it means something else? I mean all thoose things, blu hair/eyes, military-ish color of bathing suit, combat boots with the symbol is either very ignorant or very intended. So i would have to say that this picture is in very poor taste, and needs to be removed from the game. Edit:@ The Closing- ahh i misread your comment, yes i agree its natzi The Budhist Peace symbol also runs the other way. so this was probaly intended ....i think some people are out here just going with the mob not knowing what the Fu<k there talking about.
My ignorance? That myself and other people find the symbol offensive? Yes, you have all made yourself clear that the symbol has other uses, and that the nazis corrupted the symbol. But as goatmother points out, the german cross and german eagle make it clear the context in which the symbol is used is meant to be that of the corrupted version of the symbol. If the symbol was used like http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... for instance, I could see some sort of reasoning behind your words, but its not.
In all honesty, I can't see why you're arguing about this, your argument is not very strong. Shine's original point was that the swatstika has other uses, and mine is that he shouldnt use that as a defense and the the way it was used is completely tasteless, and you seem reluctant to agree with that. I don't see how I'm "hiding behind the holocaust" when its clearly my MAIN point, and that is why I'm so offended by the usage of the symbol as it is.
I don't really understand what you're trying to say.? I feel like you are just trying to push around your knowledge of the symbol's other uses. Everyone knows how propaganda focused the nazi regime was... I certainly didn't think they'd use a symbol universally thought as "evil" to depict themselves, it was them who made it evil. are you arguing that this image does not depict the symbol in that way?
@@Palodios """"& quot ;Usually I'd bite, but the Holocaust is one thing I do not take lightly. This is what I see. Two girls, one with blonde hair and blue eyes, "perfect" features, and other also very attractive, sporting a military-colored piece of clothing, with combat boots and a swastika."""&am p;qu ot; blond hair blue eyes isn't actual Aryan, real Aryan are of Persian decent, just thought I'd point that out since i'm considered Aryan though I don't give a crap. But yeah of course Holocaust did happen, no denying that. In this case though, of course they are implying some sort of Nazi related scenario, no talking out of that, even if swastika has more then one meaning.
i was saying that Shine was right about the sign, you are too in your own way. just saying that this is also a symbol for other things. My argument is not weak, your interpretation is wrong. And bear in mind that the nazis did not see themselves as evil.the swatika was adopted as the symbol of the 'pure race',the 'aryan race'.it was as you said propaganda,i think maybe, maybe just you are looking the wrong way right now.
actually, the hindu symbol goes the other way around. The nazi symbol is a "Mirror Image" of the hindu one...
i was trying to say that the swastika has other meanings.and if i still get disagrees and bubble poaches, that's too bad. @Goatmother,i did not disagree. Take it like this: There's a NAZI swastika and there's the original too. it all depends on interpretation.
you yourself titled this page "Nazi Bathing Suit Girls" ...lol Edit: didnt hit disagree tho
notice that its not reversed... this is just another taste of how sick Japanese people can be. lets have a wank at some nazi cartoon girls......*finshes his coffee*
hmm...what's all this?^^^^^^but since everybody's just respecting everybody else's opinion, and took the time and effort to be very informative, I think the debate's refreshing...the game's called moe moe world war II, by the way and I -just so you know- think its kind of in bad taste...but what can I do...freedom of speach/to be creative etc its kind of a bietch..and some one was talking about context before...cool idea..how do you intend to do that exactly...just by looking at the pics...? hmm...oh and the swastika is a mirror image thing...erm nope...you can find both versions, clockwise and counterclockwise in hinduism and buddhism...I've seen it myself..nazi's hijacked it...pure and simple...I'm sure proper sources on the internet can be found...
good on you people to least give a crap... you'd be surprised at how many people won't..
One has the German Cross on her uniform as well and another has the German Cross as well as the German Eagle on her hat:
I'd like to know why?
lol aparently someone dosnt think you do
Wow, this is amazingly nice. :)
I was too busy looking at the b00bs, lol. The whole swastika thing though is probably there because they are germans durning that period. For all those arguing about it being offensive or not, you cant deny what the symbol became regardless of were it came from. I would gather that 80-90% of the world would first think Hitler and Nazi when they saw it and maybe they might now where it came from. I sure as H-E-double Hockey sticks didnt.
LOL, Asians.... JK, that's a sun symbol. Duh.
I'd tap those. Pretty sexy if you ask me.
yea, she shouldn't be wearing that top....easy to take care of that. :P
