As part of an in-depth interview with Japanese gaming site 4Gamer, Shigeru Miyamoto discussed his latest creation, Pikmin 3, and why it was brought over from the Wii to the Wii U.
I'm sure some will say "too little too late", but having tried a demo at a Nintendo event, this game is probably the best they have before Bayonetta 2 and X hit.
Agreed. I'm personally excited. Hopefully anyone out there with a Wii U will get the game as well; if it's anything like the first two then it will be fantastic. @Donnieboi Yup, I saw that. Not unexpected. It was designed by Miyamoto and I'm already familiar with the first two gaems (though I'm sure I'm rusty now). It'll be my first Wii U physical purchase in a while, so I'm quite pleased it will be out soon.
Famitsu gave it a 9/10
I wouldn't say late but the timing is perfect. A game that will basically kick off the new Nintendo. To add to that every game after Pikmin actually is of high quality.
Nintendo games quality were always pretty good.
I don't think it's enough to make me buy a Wii U for now
Ill never buy a wii u I would rather wipe my arse with that money. Ill stick with my real console for now until the ps4 many thanks
The Pikmin series was amazing back in the gamecube days. My little sisters would eagerly watch me play, and we made sure never to lose a single pikmin. That game bonded us more than any family vacation for some reason. I just don't have any desire to get a wii- u. despite all the fun games its just not a fit for me. I wish sometime in the next console cycle, Nintendo will expand to other consoles. A pipe dream but....
They need to have some sort of multiplayer. I love the local multiplayer in Pikmin 2!
They do. I loved the local multiplayer on pimin 2. Only really played it about a year ago. Just decided to try it out. Me and my friend had so much fun. It was hilarious. Most previewers seem to have forgotten that it was actually there as I see a lot of comments saying that it's a new thing for the series. Basically you have challenge mode still and the battle mode is now slightly different. The berries you collect fill out a bingo card now (when you get a row you win). Everything else is the same.
Thanks for the info!
'But in Pikmin 3 it is, quite honestly, running many things at the same time. If you look at the entire map on the Gamepad, you can see it’s all running properly. In other words, in order to show everything while moving in the game with the advanced processing actually needed for it, the Wii U was the perfect choice.'. That's not a reason why it was brought to the Wii U: it's just a consequence of doing so.
But what Miyamoto is saying is that Pikmin 3 is doing all of this because it's on the Wii U. Basically he feels that the Wii U is perfectly suited to running a game like this because of its processing power. Of course, whether you agree with his statement is another story.
Sure, but it's not a reason why it was brought to the Wii U. The Pikmin games on the Cube had all the things happening on the map running in the background, even though you may not be able to see it happening.
