With the US government now officially recognising ‘League of Legends’ as a proper sport, the line between eSports and more general sports is blurring. Do you think eSports can be regarded as a sport?
Yeah why not ? As long it has the "E" before it, and be considered a different category of real physical sport. I mean LoL at Olympic games !? LOL indeed :D
""Sport" comes from the Old French desport meaning "leisure", with the oldest definition in English from around 1300 being "anything humans find amusing or entertaining"" Just learned that on Wikipedia (I checked elsewhere, it's legit), so I guess video games fit the definitation, etymologically speaking at least. After that, it's a matter of opinion.
Games get outdated. Live sports don't.
If chess and darts can be sports, why not gaming? As long as these "pro" players aren't going around claiming to be athletes, I really don't mind.
Sure it can be a sport, but don't EVER call them athletes.
They'd be metal athletes. But it still takes physical reactions times to excel at some games. If they get paid as much as pro sports athletes and get bigger endorsements.. and draw a larger crowd why isn't it a sport?
