Tom Clancy’s The Division has jumped right on top of the hype levels for many, but whenever an online game on consoles gets announced people always wonder if it’ll have dedicated servers. Luckily in this case the answer is “yes”.
Well this will ensure that matchmaking and such will be better achieved. I am really excited about this game. I can't wait. What a great time to be a gamer.
Me too, they seem to be pulling all the stops to make it right, and I must be the only one that actually loved Massive's previous game lol.
MS keep talking about the "cloud" but funny thing is big 3rd party games like the Division, Destiny and BF4 will use their own servers, why skip the MS cloud if it is something special?
I am loving what I'm reading so far. The E3 gameplay footage was awesome and this is a day one for me.
@ irepbtown I can't wait to see some more gameplay footage. I hate that they cut the footage right when it was about to go PVP.
@newmonday It is easier to manage your game with your servers. You decide how long it stays alive. MMOs typically keep separate servers from other games anyway. Each MMO has its own server setups. It almost sounds like a Single Shard server like EVE Online. Sounds impressive to me if true.
It also means that people from outside Europe and USA will always play the game with some SERIOUS lag. There's no perfect solution and this one, considering TD is a shooter on its core, is very, very far from it.
I keep forgetting about this game. Hopefully they advertize a bit more near release and advertize it efficiently and appropriately for the title and audience they are going after.
Great move to just come out and make this a known fact. I was really interested in this game, but was hesitant because of Ubi being behind it, but after a few weeks of mulling over everything and hearing this latest news, its definitely going to be on my list.
Now this is one game I'm excited about.
Dedicated servers that's the way to go
Shouldn't have to have news about this. They should be standard in all online games and not sold as a feature....
Actually bf4 destiny the division every game onX1 will be using servers at a discounted price to the developers, and all games will have matchmaking in them.
Lets hope most developers follow the lead into the next generation, dedicated servers are a must anymore.
Call of duty also had dedicated servers n that is a fuckin lagggg fest da hezell with dedicated servers we want laggg free real time bullet contact real time processing health lost real time deaths...... Etc no more excuses!!
Cod hasn't had dedicated servers on consoles as of yet.no word on cod ps4 being p2p or dedicated,x1 will have it as with all of there multiplayer games.
