In similar fashion to GameStop, Amazon has announced on their that they’ve sold out of both PS4 Launch and Xbox One Day One Editions.
After the rush on PS4 preorders during E3, I'm not really that surprised it's selling better.
Well after Don got finished with E3 I'm surprised that the xbone was even able to sell out period.
it depend how much stock they had/were given unless we know that the consoles selling out could mean anything it could mean they sold out of the 20 consoles they had or the 20,000 consoles they had. regardless these constant updates on pre-order sales are getting out of hand and are losing relevance if people are really that interested its the first-day sales they should be looking at
It wasn't until they announced they were reversing all the DRM and always online did XBone start to really do pre-orders. If XBone pre-order sales figures were good we wouldn't have seen the 180 of all the new hardware policies and requirements.
Just pointing out, PS4 sold out on Amazon twice, weeks ago. Amazon just waited until the Xbox One sold out to announce this because of the embarrassment. Just like that 89%-11% poll they had up lol.
One also has to consider the reports of the XB1's launch unit allocation being held back by manufacturing issues (rumored to be ESRAM issues). I'm not sure if those were ever verified, but it makes you wonder how much of each system Amazon was allocated for launch day.
Ps4 needs to outsell One. That'll make it funnier when One really outsell ps4
I'll ask you if your laughing yet, when PS4 completely outsell xbox everywhere.
Your comment. It make sense no.
Ps4 will out sell Xbox1 just like ps3 out sold 360 and ps2 out sold the Xbox. But the launch belongs to who ever can put the most systems on the shelves.
PS4 is beating the Xbox one in its strongest market, North America. Shhh no tears, only dreams now.
I hear the Amazon UK stock is running low too, PS4 is the first console I have ever pre-ordered! http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/... - Amazon UK PS4
The Bigger Question is How many Models will be available at Launch?
Me too. I never pre order because its not like launch editions will make me willy bigger, and chicks won't care. But the PS4 had me blushing and I want to be the only one of my friends and family with a PS4 the same day it comes out so that I can show it off on my very nice TVs so they too can witness greatness and then run out and buy one too. They still think "Xbox is t3h best bro" but they can't give me any valid reasons why. I must inform them. It is my duty to educate gamers on the evils of M$.
Believe it or not....there are some people who still think Xbox One was outselling PS4 on Amazon simply because Xbox One was #1 on the Amazon weekly charts for a couple of weeks. They are completely ignoring the fact that Amazon was selling 5 different PS4 bundles and 4 out of 5 bundles sold out (compared with Xbox One which is only selling 1 bundle and it still hasn't sold out). Either way, kudos to Sony for getting the message out that PS4 is for gamers first. These fantastic sales charts prove the people are listening.
I checked the list earlier today and Xbox One wasn't even in the top 20!!! LOL.
Believe it or not, some people think that Amazon pre sales numbers mean something. Anyone can preorder and cancel that order at any time. You don't pay a single cent to preorder off of Amazon. I lol at Amazon numbers. What is this bluray vs hd dvd again?
@midnighter20c - ok, according to your logic....we are to assume all of the hundreds of thousands of pre-ordered PS4 consoles don't mean anything on Amazon because every single one of them will be canceled. I dont see that happening and i dont think Sony is too worried about losing a few cancelations. If you don't have any faith in the Amazon preorder sales charts, what about all the sold out PS4 orders at GameStop? I guess they don't mean anything either? I guess Preorder sales are only worth celebrating when any other console other than Sony is the one selling out.
Yeah and click the "most wished for in 2013" page... PS4 is #1, xbone is #2 and the rest is pretty much all PS4 and PS3 stuff.
ps4 will outsell the xbox one by millions at launch world wide, the only thing xbox360 had going was the US market and even that now is pro ps4 its hard to believe a company can mess up so much with 21 days, conference on may 21st than E3 conference
You should tell that to the NPD numbers where Xbox is number one Year after Year. Only thing Xbox has going for them is you know, the biggest sales market in the World.. the little ol USA. Man, that must suck for them to be number 1 in the biggest market in the World.
It's no doubt that US market is the biggest but Sony has done well regaining some of that with PS4 demand. Also world wide playstation brand sells a lot better so in a way it evens out It use to be that Xbox 360 would sell great in states and Sony done well overseas so it evened out, but now if ps4 is doing well in states plus overseas than Xbox one won't be as strong
What's really crazy is that the Last of Us outsold the 360 version of CoD: Black Ops 2!
LMAO ... ya sure it did.
2 disagrees? lol... show me a link where it says LOU outsold COD Black Ops 2 on the 360.
Here ya go... TLoU is higher than CoD on the Amazon best sellers of 2013... http://www.amazon.com/gp/be...
Dis gun be good. The console wars, that is. My favorite part of this industry.
then you are what I hate about modern gaming personified. My favorite part of this industry is the experience of playing a great game.
My favorite part it reading comment exchanges like this one.
It's people like you that give planet Earth a bad name. On topic the console wars are fun, why lie. You don't have to be a fanboy to pick a favorite system. I like Samsung a little more then HTC phones but I don't mind owning either phone. Same for games systems. I likely will favor PS4 more then my WiiU mostly likely, but I still own and like my WiiU. It's fun to pick a winner and then get to rub it in your friends faces when your right or wrong. Just like sports. It's all fun. It's the trolls then mess it all even they can be funny too......sometimes.
Lol at the disagrees. Anyone who says they're not entertained and ammused by idiots arguing over consoles on the Internet is lying.
I'm not talking about the fanboys, I'm talking about the competition, and the one-upmanship they do. A perfect example is the snarky "how to share games on the PS4" video. Or the way Microsoft changed policies just to better compete with the PS4. This is what makes the industry aspect of games great. Games can be great separately from the industry and business aspect. I for one, enjoy the business end of things.
what makes the industry better are the games.
Umm, industries are forwarded and advanced through stiff competition, the ' We need to give it our all or were going to be screwed nature '. That's why companies always have to try their best to succeed and THAT becomes into them releasing the best stuff they can to make us buy their stuff. Example? Sony and their blatant arrogant stance towards the ps3. Where did that lead them? Well they did really good, but where did it lead them at the start? Yeah.
I agree. I've always loved console wars, also known as "competition". Competition is the best thing for any industry.
In Canada, Ouya is outselling the Xbox One. (there are no PS4 preorders here from amazon.ca) http://www.amazon.ca/Best-S...
a_squirrel: I pre-ordered a ps4 off amazon.ca as soon as it went up, I don't know why so many are saying there's no pre-orders available.
Contest for consumer affection.
@Sev - What? Games should be the best part of the gaming industry, right?
yh i know wat u mean every time i hear either company announce something good im like "oh he's callin u out sony/microsoft how u gonna answer back?"
Wouldn't this ultimately mean that Microsoft is providing less consoles at launch than Sony is?
With both sold out, I think you're right.
I'm guess the ratio is going to be pretty similar through all retailers, so I would say this is strong evidence to Sony having more available at launch. Plus they have all of the Launch Bundles, which adds even more to the launch stock. I wonder how quick the turnaround will be to get the follow up shipments to stores for people that did not get theirs on launch day.
@Wedge19... ultimately its hard to say for three reasons: 1) We know MS is launching in 21 regions world wide at launch but don't know specifically where and we don't know specifically what regions Sony is launching in at launch other than N. America. 2) We don't know how many units each region is being allocated at launch either. If Sony is putting more units into the US but less elsewhere it will skew how numbers look...and like wise for MS. 3) We don't know how many units were allocated to specific retailers. If Sony gave more to Amazon than Best Buy or Walmart, etc... BUT.... for Amazon specifically you can pretty safely say that Sony has sold more launch day units than MS given the have a 2013 Best Seller list and the PS4 is at 3rd place and Xbox One at 6th for "2013 so far".
In Canada EB Games they had 24 PS4 pre-orders to 14 Xbox One pre-orders available.
We don't need exact numbers. We can look at how things are "selling," the rates at which they sell, and determine things. PS4 repeatedly selling out in the time it took XBOne to sell out once on Amazon- and the fact that it's reported to have higher sales prior to that- is one indicator. The same is happening at other big retailers, such as GameStop. And if it's happening at the largest game retailer, it's most likely happening everywhere else, too.
I have four PS4s preordered, one for each of my limbs.
I just imagined you playing all four at once. That was awesome. On that note, I am seriously considering picking up a second one soon after launch so that my wife and I can play together...
I'm getting a second one for my upstairs bedroom so I can watch Blu rays and play games in bed when I'm sick lol Not sure what games to get. Have $500 dollars to spend on games and wondering what I should pick up. Any suggestions?
Well I have five PS4s preordered. Guess what the extra one is for.
Your "significant other"?
Yourself to keep? And the other four is to sell at double or triple the price on eBay or Craigslist? Since I guessed your answer right, I suggest you give me one of your preorders. Its only fair.
AKA each one of your eBay accounts :)
Well if you were Octodad you could play all four at once. But you would probably end up smashing all four of them. ;)
You forgot a limb...
I call it my third leg
I had to reply. that made me seriously lmao!!!!
When will we know about UK pre-orders? since we didn't get a PS4 day one edition I want to know if I have mine in the bag?
another thing is that the PS4's Standard Edition is in top 10 while XB1's Standard Edition is not even in Top 100! http://www.amazon.com/best-...
Um, you might want to re-check your eyes. The standard x1 is in the top 100 at 53. And for the past few weeks, the day 1 edition of x1 was in the top 1-5 for a while. It was only when gamestop ran out of ps4 pre-orders when the ps4 pre-orders jumped on the amazon chart. Also, I thought we here at n4g were not going to approve submissions about product placements on the amazon best-sellers chart anymore.... Or does that only apply to events when the x1 is at a higher place than the ps4??
The launch edition PS4 system was actually in the number one position for about a week or so after E3. It sold out shortly after and is currently at number 3 on the best sellers of 2013 list. The launch edition of the X1 has been available for about a month and has just now sold out. Which is currently sitting at number 6 on the best sellers list. http://www.amazon.com/gp/be... So in terms of total preorders the launch PS4 alone has more and that's not even including the various PS4 bundles Amazon offered.
this is not news. PS4 outsells Xbone everywhere. Only reason Xbone is sold out at BestBuy or Gamestop is because there getting alot less systems available than PS4.
Where did you get those facts?
through his fanboyish mind.
Look up on pre-order allocation numbers and you will know he's right. Most retailers have PS4 allocations at 5-7 times the amount of X1. This means the sales gap at launch will be pretty significant.
I have your facts, at least regarding Amazon. Quickly referring to the "best sellers of 2013" list shows the launch PS4 is in 3rd rank and the X1 is in 6th rank. So according to Amazon's total sellers list, more people have preordered the PS4 launch system. Which is more impressive since the launch PS4 sold out a week after E3 and the X1 only recently became out of stock. http://www.amazon.com/gp/be... I should also note that the ranking doesn't take into consideration the other PS4 bundles Amazon offered.
he's right.my store only had like 25 x1 and like 100 ps4.and not just my store but other ones in my district.so all gamestops in general.i know this because i' am a employee at gamestop.
