iPhone app scans real-world objects and places them into Minecraft

Reddit user portemantho has created an interesting iPhone app, that scans real objects and allows you to import them into Minecraft. Using the video function of an iPhone, anyone can scan an object and make it blockier.

This is not a totally new concept; there has been software for Kinect for two years now that can do much the same thing. However, it is the first time we’ve seen something like this available for a popular, portable consumer piece of technology like the iPhone. With creative ideas like this, it’ll be interesting to see how augmented reality will be further put to use in the future.

We haven’t received details yet on pricing or availability. (Dev, iPad, iPhone, Minecraft, PC, Tech)
