#ReleaseDart Campaign Now Has Over 1300 Tweets From All-Stars Fans

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale fans have been persistent over the past 12 days as the Twitter count for the #ReleaseDart campaign has been raised over 1300 tweets (1326 at the time of writing). For those who do not know, #releasedart is a campaign to get Sony Santa Monica to continue the previously cancelled DLC character, Dart, from the classic J-RPG, Legend of Dragoon. Fans have been tweeting to @sonysantamonica, @yosp (Shuhei Yoshida, the CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment) and @sethkillian (the lead game designer at Sony Santa Monica) with the hashtag, in an effort to bring this character to fruition. In addition to that, the All-Stars community have created a change.org petition which is very close to its goal of 1000 signatures with 59 to go. (PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, PS Vita, PS3)

It's going to take a lot more than that to get this game going again... Especially now that the build up to the next Super Smash game has properly started.

A small-ish roster, a somewhat dull story mode and no unlockable characters killed it for me.

Unlockable characters are not a positive thing.

That being said, single player blew and the final "boss" was the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Probably the worst fighting game boss ever made.

Well it was the big head that was originaly going to be the PS mascot
On the other hand, it was just a big head xD

Polygon man made sense, especially for fans from the PSOne era; it just wasn't executed well.

In response to the people who responded to me: I loved the idea of it being Polygon Man but at it's core it's essentially 3 regular fights and you occasionally have to hit the giant head.

Well, I didnt think the SSB fans would like PSASBR seeing as its got no healthbars and all. The people I was specifying were mostly targeted towards the hardcore PS fans.

unlockable characters is a huge thing in fighting games for me at least.

Once you've played 20 hours or so, it gives you something else to work towards and then, you appreciate earning that new character and you may try one out you might not otherwise have.

The thing is this is for fans of PS and PSASBR AND Legend of Dragoon, not Super Smash fans.

Because people are totally incapable of liking multiple things.

3 Disagrees and nothing to back it up..

The roster IS small, the story mode IS dull (compared to other games in this genre) and how is having nothing decent to unlock "a positive thing"? Where's the reward for playing?

"Grinding to unlock is also unacceptable in a competitive game. It's antithetical to the nature of fair competition, not to mention a major hassle to event-runners. Anything that materially affects gameplay should be available to any would-be competitor right away. This actually means DLC characers are potentially fine. You buy them and they are immediately available. If all gems were possible to buy, then there is no "crime" against competition, we'd just have to see if the game cost $500 or something, ha.

Anything locked away behind some grind is not acceptable though. That's a barrier between the player and the game that we as competitive gamers don't want. We want each other to have access to the real game right away. More and more of this has crept into fighting games, and we've all kind of let it slide, but an entire system based on forced grind (if that's what this is...is it??) should be roundly rejected out-of-hand. Is that what you'd like to become standard? I know I don't. I subtract 1 point out of 10 in each version of Soul Calibur that doesn't let me pick Cervantes the moment I buy it. (Looking at you Soul Calibur 3.)"

The reward is improving your skills, I'd say that's a pretty rewarding experience. Being able to compete is much more satisfying than being able to cheese out the computer player 8 million times.

Roster is honestly as good as it was gonna get and as I said the boss sucks. I think everyone agrees.

Finally. A decent response.

"Crept in to fighting games"

It's been the norm for a very, very long time to have unlockable characters.

I'm not saying lock the entire roster away, have the majority of it available straight away by all means.

If everything is available from the start, as in Playstation All Stars, then where's the drive to play the single player "story" mode? (i'm not including the stickers etc. because that's just blatant filler for the game) or any other mode than multiplayer?

As long as the unlockable characters are balanced, and it isn't a 'grind-to-win' scenario, i.e unlocking characters that are actually better stats wise, then I see no problems for competitive gamers.

Edit -
Also, agreed. The boss sucks, massively. (This also doesn't help the game).
