GameInformer: "It took me longer to play The Last of Us than most around the Game Informer offices, because I had a personal insistence on playing the game under the proper conditions."
didn't realize that there was a "proper" way to play this game...
Yeah, headphones (or Turtle Beaches, etc) and some peace and quiet has enhanced a lot of gaming experiences for me. Especially very emotional/cinematic games like Persona 3 & 4, MGS 4, Heavy Rain, Mass Effect, L.A. Noir, Deus Ex, Journey, Shadow of the Collosus, etc
As a parent & gamer i have developed my routine after my son was about 1 year old. I never game until my son is asleep at 9:00pm. I have a 24" tv i set up on a tv tray i put in front of my recliner, my wife sits next to me & watches whatever she wants on tv while i game. I have wireless headphones & have one ear uncovered so we can talk & be right next to eachother both getting our own preference of entertainment. One of the best decisions ive ever made!
Very similar to my setup... except I have a 24" TV next to my 56"DLP, and she watches on the 24". I bought a 56" HDTV for games before we moved in together, not to see Howie's pores on America's Got Talent.
I'm in the same situation. I have to play at least two hours at a time. I play with Sony headphones and darken the room. This is how I become immersed in the game.
agreed. every night from 9pm-1am...in the dark with wireless Skullcandy PLYR1s. All while the newborn sleeps next to me on the couch. (wife and i do shifts). the life of a gaming parent! =)
