Brilliance in Gaming – 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors

Jae Lee writes: What if I told you that you actually didn’t know all that much about some of your old favorite games? Why it resonated with you so much or perhaps even what made them so great in the first place? What if there were some aspects in those very games that you took for granted, when in actuality they were flashes of brilliance in game design?

That is exactly what I’m telling you right now.

Don’t believe me? Read on and welcome to “Brilliance in Gaming.” (3DS, 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors, Nintendo DS)

As is VLR. Can't wait for the third game.

WARNING: THIS ARTICLE SPOILS COMPLETELY UNRELATED GAMES.

Namely, Red Dead Redemption. Seriously, I don't think the statute of limitations has passed on that ending.

Well, it also spoils FF7, but you have to be living in a cave to not know what happens...

Playing VLR right now.

The dialogue and story is incredible. I heard about how great it is before, but I didn't expect this great!

Zero (the chinese looking rabbit thing) may be the most creepy thing in recent memory. Because he's not scary through looks or actions, but rather just speech, which is amazing.

Ans there are so many complicated paths and puzzles and endings and secrets.

I beat it a couple days ago (Got the Plat!) and it is amazing, I loved the game and waiting on part 3, and considering going back and getting 999 as well.

So basically. I've had 999 for years now, but i've never played it, mainly because the art style doesn't look all that appealing. Somebody, convince me why this game is better than other games alike, such as Hotel Dusk or Ace Attorney.
