June 2013 PSN Top Sellers: The Last of Us Reigns

PS US Blog - The Last of Us, Naughty Dog’s highly anticipated post-apocalyptic title, lived up to expectations, outselling all other digital titles in June. Other notable PS3 entries include Crystal Dynamics’ Tomb Raider and The Walking Dead from Telltale Games. Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Injustice: Gods Among Us prove to be the kings of downloadable content this month, and Hotline Miami proves that indie devs are loved by PlayStation gamers. (PS Vita, PS3, PSP, The Last Of Us)

Alot of people (including myself), were wondering before this release if it was going to garner any significant sales numbers because of the simple fact that it is a "new" IP. I am pleasantly surprised that it is selling like a BOSS!

A "BOSS" is the boss because he/she sold the most to get where he/she is at in a business.... that person is the BOSS! k

@mayberry

You didn't answer my question though. What you said is an explanation of who the boss is not how does a boss sell. Just saying....

the idea that you can't launch new IP's and be successful has been proven wrong by this and dishonored, if you have make a great game people will buy no matter if it comes out in the first year or gen or last

Indeed, I think it most depends on timing, marketing and of course quality.

All the perfect scores and praise are probably the biggest reasons why it's been selling (so deservingly) well.

Yea I honestly didn't think it was gonna sell that great even though it had one of the better ad campaigns as far as Sony exclusives go. That said the sales it has are well deserved and hope it continues.

i am hopeful in the first 12 months it can do atleast 8 plus million, ND deserve every single sale and than some

Everyone should get this twice, Naughty Dog deserve it. It looked expensive to make too.

This game should be experienced by anyone who considers themselves a fan of gaming. It is a masterclass in game design and storytelling. I highly recommend playing this game on the survival difficulty setting, as that really makes you feel the fear of knowing just how tenuous your hold on life is and walking into an environment having no idea how many infected or human opponents there are while having little to no resources at your disposal really makes you feel the desperation of the situation to a heightened degree. Some of my favorite games of this gen are Mass Effect (all of them), Uncharted 2, God of War 3, Infamous 2, Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite, and MGS4. The Last of Us can go toe to toe with any of those games, and is undoubtedly one of the best games of this generation. If you don't have the ability to play this game, you really are missing out on one of the best experiences in gaming.
