This morning NCsoft announced a deal with Double Fusion to allow the company to sell and display ads on the billboards and signs throughout City of Heroes and Villains. All the revenue generated will be funneled back into the game to support the development of additional content. The new ads, which will replace the fictional ads currently displayed in the game, should start appearing this summer. While the effort is intended to create a more immersive and believable game world, fans worried about the intrusion of real world marketing into their fantasy life can simply opt out of the new ad program and retain the existing fictional ads.
To find out more about the new deal IGN sat down with City of Heroes executive producer and general manager Brian Clayton and NCsoft marketing manager Rob Gordon.
