Saints Row 4 dev unconcerned with next-gen competition

GamesIndustry: "Volition's Jim Boone isn't worried about current-gen effort being overshadowed by PS4 and Xbox One anticipation." (Jim Boone, Next-Gen, PC, PS3, Saints Row 4, Xbox 360)

its GTA5 they need to be worried about

This game won't sell well seeing the new Gta 5 giving you complete freedom and SO MUCH content. GTA 5 to me, looks to be closer to what made saints row series a classic than this pile of turd, with so much recycled content. Instead of going back to saints row 2 gameplay that everyone loved, and advance it, they want us to pay full price for a DLC turned full game.

No thanks. I will be surprised if they made a profit out of it. Listen to your fans please.

@below, and that's the thing, we don't want infamous or prototype, we want what made SR unique and stick to a working formula. Meh fanboys buying anything blindly

Both will sell well, as usual.

Not really, the games are so different they aren't really competition for each other at all.

Saints Row may have started out trying to be like GTA, but they have increasingly went in the complete opposite direction with each game.

Hell this one is going to me more like inFAMOUS or [PROTOTYPE] than a GTA game.

GTA is a clone of the original game that started this genre of game which is "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" on the NES.

FACT: all games like this are essentially clones, including GTA.

I'm tried of hearing GTA fans acting like snobs saying Saints Row copied GTA when GTA copied Who Framed Roger Rabbit to begin with.

@ Rockstar fan boys, go ahead and disagree with facts now. ;)

Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Are you kidding me? Seriously.

You come out with some crap, but this takes the cake.

There you go ladies and gentlemen, GTA ripped off Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Lol, you're insane.
RGDubz  +   750d ago
Yes, because GTA was never a top down open world game & neither was Who Framed Roger Rabbit. <sarcasm>

LOL @ The blatant stupidity of some people.

You can try all you want, but there is nothing else like GTA. Saints Row is nothing like GTA either, it hasn't got the quality.

There might be similarities, but they are nothing like GTA.
RGDubz  +   750d ago
Who's trying? You? I just drop some facts you can handle & you're trying to dispute them with your opinion.

Fact is Who Framed Roger Rabbit came first and started this genre of game, period.

As far as GTA IV, hopefully nothing will ever be like it again because it was so bad the DLC made it look like a pile of crap, GTA IV was anything but quality & if you think it was a quality game then I put it to you that you have no idea what a quality game looks like.

Enjoy your empty prison in GTA IV.. I heard it's much better to go to an empty prison then to go to one full of guards & inmates.. Now an empty prison, THAT's what I call quality! <sarcasm>

Of course they're unconcerned with the competition. Saints Row is the only true open world game that focuses more on fun over realism. GTA5 is just GTA4.5 and it will have more tedious missions with yet another boring storyline. GTA4 was just a beta.

Saints row 3 is rubbish I couldn't even bring myself to finish it and I rarely stop playing game without finishing them.

I didn't care if people said SR copied GTA or whatever. The game was fun...until The Third.

They took a good thing and just ruined it. I don't think I'll ever get over it. Even if they went back to the original roots.

In the end though, its just a game.
