I enjoyed the The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony way more than the main game I just found it way more fun. Playing as a leader of a biker gang was amazing made me feel like a badass and playing as club owner was pretty cool made me think of the club in Vice City.

So a selection of GTA 3 and VICE CITY, made up Lost and Damned and The Ballad Of Gay Tony

GTA IV was a huge let down, especially when there's so many better freeroam games on the market.

Hopefully Rockstar does immensely better with GTA V, although I'm still skeptical after GTA's last outing.

So many better free roam games? In the same genre? If you're alluding to saints row then no. I don't know why people didn't enjoy GTA4. No game does a city like that

Becuzisaid1500d ago

I found Just Cause 2 way more fun than GTA4. After the diversity of gameplay options in San Andreas I thought GTA4 was quite dull. I also didn't find the characters likable. GTA5 looks to offer a ton more than 4 though.

@ die_fiend

Yes you're right, no games do a city like that.. Going to a completely empty prison in GTA IV was so much better then going to a populated one with guards and prisoners like it was in Saints Row 2. <sarcasm>

BTW I wasn't even referring to just Saints Row, but how about Just Cause 2, The Saboteur, Mercs 2, SR2, SR3, Mafia 2 & even Rockstars own RDR.. Hell I'd rather Play The Godfather Don Edition, do I need to keep going or has my point been made?

Fun gameplay > a city of NPCs any day of the week. GTA IV was a tech demo, gameplay sucked. That being said, GTA V looks like it will be a technical milestone as well as fun like GTA games should be.

@RGDubz

You don't have to be mean about it.

SilentNegotiator1500d ago (Edited 1500d ago )

Silence, GTA4 haters! Go watch your virtual TVs playing "edgy" comedians and be happy! And if you don't like it, it's because you "don't get it"!

I agree. I got bored quickly and never completed it. It was partly the main character - he didn't have much depth and there wasn't much reason to invest in his motivations.

This looks like it will impress though. By giving you three character, you can make one your primary character for story purposes and thus invest in him. And obviously, there's a bunch of other great stuff!

"many better freeroam games on the market"

Many eh - please do tell.

Saint row? No MP-freeroam, next.

I thought GTA4 was great but I can see why people wouldn't like it. Why play in miserable surroundings when it's miserable enough as it is outside in real life. People want to visit a happy sunny environment and feel they are having a nice break from reality and feel like they are on holiday. GTA5 looks like a return to that exciting resort style setting
