5 Things We Want From Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Gary A Swaby of TheKoalition.com writes: While Hideo Kojima and his production team are busy working on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain we have The Metal Gear Solid Legacy collection to look forward to. The legacy collection is ideal for those who either wish to experience Metal Gear Solid from its roots to its current state or those who are simply just huge fans of the series and wish to own it all in one collection.

Once you own the legacy collection, the only thing left is Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. We're still a long way away from owning the game, and we still don't even know all there is to know about it. As someone who holds the Metal Gear Solid series in high regard I decided to compile a list of some things I would like to see in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phatnom Pain. Be sure to leave a comment with some of your own suggestions. (Konami, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

Disappointed that portable ops isn't part of the collection. It plays a big role as a prologue to peace walker

Also, the majority of people did not hate MGO, people just hated konami ID, that was the biggest barrier from allowing you to play MGO. I personally had a blast playing MGO on mgs4.

Definitely steep learning curve made it very rewarding for people who took the time to master the game, people who were looking for an easy time didn't find one not even in the johnny servers. They should bring it back just more refined

MGO is one of the best online MP games I've ever played. Yes Konami ID was a pain and dedicated servers would have helped as well but otherwise it was awesome.

@a_bro: THANK YOU! I don't know why Kojima (and the writer of this article) thinks that westerners hated MGO. We loved it. We don't need another COD-clone. It was just their crappy servers, it's ability to be easily hacked (and often WAS hacked) plus the Konami ID's which if forgotten, would lock your PS3 out of being able to play the game, forever (even if you tried on a different PSN i.d.) that ruined MGO.

Leave the "steep" learning curve alone! Making MGO more accessible is like making Dark Souls more accessible--old fans will hate it, and new fans will just find it too simple and common to most other games, making it easily forgettable.

I'm glad you guys seemed to like MGO and I'm apologize if what I wrote about it doesn't fall in line with your own opinion. I'm just going off of the feedback I received myself. I'm not speaking for everybody, just the majority of people I spoke to.

I hated the fact they avoided PSN which P2P resulted in ridiculously long download times. It took HOURS to download it and I refused to update after that.

i want less anime dialogue and characters, give me that, and i'll be so content with this game, and from what i've seen it seems that they really aren't doing an anime feel, which is definitely a plus in my book
ANIALATOR136  +   749d ago
it looks pretty anime to me. especially that code talker character
j-blaze  +   749d ago
please avoid MGS it's not for you, play splinter cell..
dialog in MGS are always fantastic and carries a lot of meanings, i don't want it to be slangy like uncharted or TLoU or most western games

Release Metal Gear Online as a FTP with dedicated servers on both the PS4 and XBO a few months before The Phantom Pain releases. Keep it going with constant paid DLC and updates throughout the generation to keep players thinking about the series.

AND not shutdown after just 4 years.

Excellent idea!

This is not an attack on Xbox One fans.

But seriously, this needed to be a PS4 exclusive and it is not...

This and KH3! Whyyyyy is the world so cruel sometimes??
CrossingEden  +   749d ago
if metal gear can be put on a nintendo system then it can also be put on a microsoft system, grow up, seriously, grow up and stop whining because you can't say "haha, we have this game on our console, haha"
JunioRS101  +   749d ago
The MGS series was primarily popular on PS systems, that was my point.

"Grow up" ? I specifically said this was not an attack on Xbox One fans

Whyyyyy Sony has to be cruel sometimes spending those money on ND and GG and other western devs to make shoooterz and boring games instead of spending on making MGS5, FF15 or KH3 exclusive????? because simply, Sony doesn't care about Japanese games!
so glad these 3 games are multiplat now, Sony doesn't deserve to have these games exclusive to their console
wanieldiik  +   749d ago
the answer is simple, the majority of gamers care more about western games than japanese games, so of course they wanna invest more in western games. But hey, at least sony care more about the japanese market than microsoft.
DigitalRaptor  +   747d ago
Why do you care about a company spending money to make third party games like MGS5, FF15 or KH3 exclusive, rather than them making a more diverse output for a global audience? What does that achieve as game developers? Nothing but frustration from fans.

Third party Japanese developers have been ALL OVER the PS3 this generation. Developers who makes games like Folklore, Valkyria Chronicles, Yakuza, Disgaea, Tales of Xillia, Ni no Kuni, Demon's Souls, The Witch and the Hundred Knights and many, many, many more.

They will be ALL OVER PS4.

But of course you'd ignore the Japanese games like Gran Turismo, Puppeteer, Knack, Siren, Destiny of Spirits, Freedom Wars, Gravity Rush, Soul Sacrifice, Rain, Tokyo Jungle, and that money-sink called The Last Guardian that Sony cares enough about to not cancel it.

What this boils down to is your bitter resentment that Japanese games aren't more popular in the entire world as they are in Japan. Sony has a global company, and their WORLDWIDE STUDIOS are called that for a reason. Get with it.

What I want most from this game, is an evolved form of MGS3 stealth & survival.

That game was fantastic.

Take that cheap box trick out of MGO (anyone know what i am talking about)
