DriveClub Will Be “Both” Simulator and Arcade, Will Have Visual Deformation; Maybe Weather Effects

DriveClub is going to be a pretty crucial game for the launch line-up of the PS4. Not only it will be distributed freely (in a slightly souped down version with less cars and track) to all PlayStation Plus members — which means everyone that can actually play online — but it will bear the heavy responsibility of going head to head against the Forza Motorsport 5 ten ton gorilla.

Three of the things racing game fans (and online gamers in general) often ask about are whether a game is a simulator or an arcade racer and whether it has visual deformation for damage and weather effects or not.

Yeah, the fact that they aren't completely ignoring simulation fans actually rekindled my interest in this game. I really didn't want another need for speed.

The demo at E3 was still using 4 GB of ram and was only 35% done so i hope the final product is MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU CH better.

windblowsagain1714d ago

right breaking points, spelling ffs.

Software_Lover1714d ago (Edited 1714d ago )

I'm just not sure about the always first person view. They should give us a choice, but it's their vision of their game.

I hope it turns out well.

Abriael1714d ago

Personally I always drive in first person, i find the third person view rather jarring with cars, but yeah, I agree an option would be better.

dcj05241714d ago

It keeps the immersion. Need Oculus RIFT on this though. maybe for DRive clube 2 in 2015/16

RavageX1714d ago (Edited 1714d ago )

Options are always best.

With Grand Turismo, if I am messing about or want a harder challenge I will play while using the wheel view, otherwise I use the speedometer/road view.

Arcade type games I like to use 3rd person(or if I want to see any cool exterior mods).

Why do games keep trying to shy away from weather? Rain is a must. Snow would be nice. Personally one day I'd love an arcade game that had SERIOUS weather, bad lightning storms, etc.

I think there was a game like this back on the Dreamcast, only it was rubbish.

Ducky1714d ago

Depends on what you mean by serious.

I can remember old games like NeedForSpeed3 having pretty impressive thunderstorms and night driving.
... or I suppose a more recent example is MotorStorm Apocalypse.

Minato-Namikaze1714d ago (Edited 1714d ago )

MotorStorm: Apocalypse is your game. Its not a Sim racer, but the 1st time you race through a raging hurricane its like any other experience you'll have in a racing game. I loved it.

sigfredod1714d ago

Get your info rigt, there is several views on the game they just recomend cockpit view for the details

Software_Lover1714d ago

From what I've read, it was cockpit only. That doesn't mean I was right as I haven't read everything. If I'm wrong then I'm wrong. I'm a man and I will correct it.

If that is the case, then that is a big plus.

delicia1714d ago

There are gameplay videos showcasing car view, aren't there? From those E3 demos and such.

SniperControl1714d ago

I saw a video just recently, with the player flicking through multiple views.

Dont know where you got that from?

Destrania1714d ago

They have a third-person camera.

Spontogical1714d ago

Just letting you know. There have been several videos showing that you can drive from many different views like any other racing game.

lgn151714d ago

Same dude I never play with first person I hate it bcause it make me dizzy for some reason.

It's Free so its a winner to me.

TrevorPhillips1714d ago

You still have to buy tracks, cars, etc though. Still good though :)

C-Thunder1714d ago

You don't have to, but if you like it, the option is there.

FuzzyPooka1714d ago

I almost felt bad when the announced this game, zoomed in to the cars engine (with the individually modeled bolts, gears, ect) and all I thought was: "I can't wait to crash this MOFO."

r211714d ago

Woah, tracks that change with the year? Thats pretty cool if they pull it off.
