Dominika Gonsierowska, Lead Producer of The Witcher 3, revealed that the game’s world will be enormous; 35 times larger than that of The Witcher 2.
Wow, it's *really* big ...
I hope there's fast travel...
That's what she said.
I'm currently playing through Witcher 2 after picking it up for 10 bucks on that Live Summer Sale thing, and I love it! Such an awesome game and I can't wait to see the next-gen version!
size doesn't mean everything.
So many comments that could be made right now ...
Just Cause 2 is the prime example. One of the biggest maps ever made but not very interesting. If the world doesn't feel alive it doesn't matter.
True that, the Just Cause world was just shallow.
Yes it was. One of the most beautiful open-world games ever made.
That's because it was screaming open world multi-player. Not Like Red Dead Redemption which had a very boring multi-player. Single player was awesome but the multi sucked.
Yeah buddy it's all about the motion in the ocean lol
My simplistic mind has always thought of open world games as being easy to create in a sense. You build a world, picture Fallout 3 with no people or landmarks in it. There, you have a template, now you create the core game, towns, NPC's etc. Once the core is done you just start adding random landmarks, quests, NPC's fun things to do until it's release time. That's exactly how I see Witcher 3 right now. This huge open map where they just need to fill it in with the awesomeness.
I'm pretty sure it's %35, not 35x
From the interview linked in the article... "JC: Approximately how large is the open-world in The Witcher 3? DG: It’s 35 times larger than that of The Witcher 2, so it’s safe to say it’s enormous. However, we’re not creating this vast, open world just for the sake of it being large. We want to include a lot of content and we simply need a huge space to fit it all in. We’ve sprinkled the world with points of interest – places that catch players’ interest in various ways and offer side-quests or unique beasts to slay." It's 35x larger.
I highly doubt it is only 1/3 larger than witcher2
Oh, I got confused for a second. I read in another article that the game is %20+ bigger than Skyrim.
Unless Witcher 2 took place inside a closet, I feel like that number is probably an exaggeration.
evidently you didn't play the witcher 2 or even see the trailer for the witcher 3
Heres hoping it doesn't lose its story focus being so big,2 was perfect imo why does everything need to go open world I have high hopes though, it does look great
Thats like the biggest goddamn game ever, hell Daggerfall would have a run for its money I bet, but I need to see it to believe it. CDProjekt hasn't let me down yet, but holy crap they're getting bold.
also less goofy moments, because you can't xpect to be taken seriously when you put story elements like blood diamonds or ripping a child's stomach open and then having a cheap hentai joke or upskirt
