Could a Yearly Tennis Game Work?

With the an extremely exciting Wimbledon coming to a close today, tennis fans must wonder if we will ever get a game that does the sport justice. (Next-Gen, PS3, PS4, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

Maybe ...given that motion sensors are a big thing now, I don't see why not.

If COD can do it why not tennis?

I agree and I am definitely curious to see how it is handled with the upcoming systems.
3-4-5  +   872d ago's just glorified pong....especially when playing it as a video game.

It never never gets more new and exciting things are happening.

It's just the same as it was since top spin 1.

At least with Mario tennis or fake tennis games you can get creative and introduce new mechanics...

If it's's just pong and that doesn't hold my attention for more than a few minutes.

If the tennis games releasing every 3 years aren't selling well...I doubt releasing one yearly would change that.

I say no. I love Tennis video games, but I just don't see the point of having it yearly based.

I'm almost completely sure this type of sport would quickly fatigue itself if it did one release every year. But it's certainly financially possible considering how little actually goes on when playing Tennis.

It's not like you need to simulate a massive field or hockey rink with all those players/physics collisions, etc, and across hundreds and hundreds of different players.

The main necessary upgrade in a tennis game would be AI, courts, and ball/racquet physics.

Financially possible since it'd be cheap, but would fatigue very quick.

I rather them bring back a Surfing game. Can we get a Next Gen TransWorld Surf anyone?!?!??!

Andy took one for Scotland!

On topic: Isn't Virtua Tennis the game to play for Tennis? other than that, other sports also have yearly releases, I do not see why Tennis wouldn't work yearly.

That's like asking if a yearly bowling game would work. Hahaha "Oh dude are you stoked for Wimbledon 14?" "Nahhh bro I'm still playing Bowling 13" No. It wouldnt work.

Every other year sounds good to me, I just want the in game models to look like their real life counterpart for once, those Top Spin games have some hideous character models. Bigger rosters is a must too, all the 3 main tennis games have small rosters to choose from making the games become a bore more quickly.

Works as well as a yearly golf game. In some categories new tech gameplay means more than in others. If new release offers new features then yes. It's not like every new Madden has been an improvement.

Every other sports game is yearly so why not? If the fanbase is there, its possible.

I think the developers of mlb the show could make a FANTASTIC tennis game, hell,, I bet they could make ANY sports game great!!!

i don't know about an annual tennis game.
feature creep has made the football games ridiculously complicated, the need to introduce new features every iteration to justify the new title.
fifa 09 had nine pages of the instruction manual just for the controls.
i remember when you could play a football game with a one button non analog joystick.

a Virtua Tennis game every few years will do me just fine.
they may not have been as realistic as something like Top Spin, but they were way more fun.

Would have to be top spin because its the only tennis game that is any good and cannot use Roger Federers name for the title as he will be gone soon
