Simon Says: Too Much, Too Soon For Assassin's Creed

GameNTrain's Author Simon Marshal writes: As we look forward to another exciting gaming period this fall, many of the releases are almost the same as they were 12 months ago. We can rely upon Call of Duty having a release every November, FIFA hits shelves in late September/ early October as well as what once was a unique title, Assassin’s Creed. Assassin’s Creed has built a large fanbase with its exciting gameplay, beautiful graphics and intriguing story. As the game now enters its 4th instalment (6th console game overall), I have lost complete interest in the series. The more I see of Assassin’s Creed 4, the less impressed I am with the way in which the series has turned out. I haven’t looked forward to an Assassin’s Creed game since Brotherhood and the charm of the series has been lost to me ever since. (Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

I completely agree, the series has gone too far, like COD.

The series is just fine. Rather 5 years for sequels? Ac 3 was just fine & 4 will be even better.
Cam977  +   691d ago
I know 4 will be good but 3 had some awful pace issues. Had I not been a hardcore fan 3 would've put me off the series for good.

No it was more of the same. I've played and owned every single AC game. AC2 was by far the best balance of everything AC offers.

AC3 was just following people while they talk......this game seems more of the same as the one mission they showed could literally have been taken right out of AC3 and I wouldn't have noticed, as it was a mission where......

You just follow people in the brush while they talk.....pretty predictable....Nothing we haven't seen in every AC game.

I thought I read somewhere that they wanted it to be like COD with a yearly release. maybe I misread that though.

and 3 more AC currently in the works, series is being bled dry to fast with very little innovation in the games.

Why do people not want more Assassin's Creed? Even if it's more of the same and with little innovation, it's still more of what you love.

It's losing the charm it had.

I'd have to agree as well. I've played all of them and so far my favourite has been the second.

The third game was too short for my liking, but I did enjoy it. I'm not sure I like how quickly they're releasing AC4, and I'm not sure how much I like the full pirate theme - it was a fun minigame, but I don't think I'd like the whole game to be like that.

The story could have been ended with... **SPOILERS**

Desmond being dead and all, I'm not sure how they're going to continue that part of the story. All this being said, I'll probably still buy it, I'm a sucker for open world games.

If AC4: Black Flag turns out to be as lackluster as AC3, then well...sh*t. At the very least, I'll still probably just keep popping the game back in for the multiplayer.

We'll just have wait to see if the milking has had any effect on the gameplay.

I don't agree at all and as far as AC3 gos i loved it. I think to many people wanted connor to be just like enzio.
Summons75  +   690d ago
I did too. Much better story set up, a lot more twists, Connor had more character development with 5 minutes than Ezio had over 3 game, more Desmond parts (though kinda lackluster conclusion), better combat and better world. I love the improvments ac2 brought and brotherhood was a even better but ac3 brought me back to assassins creed after I lost interest after 3 games of playing a womanizer who just killed everyone instead of investigating and learning as he went like Altier and Connor.

Ac4 should be interesting on a couple unanswered questions from 3 but I worry they'll try and make it like pirates of the carabean instead of giving their own take to pirates.

I've reached AssaCreed saturation after relevations I was hoping AC3 to change that but I was only left disappointed. It's time they let go.
Wni0  +   690d ago
I was sick of assassins creed halfway into the first game. Great game, it was just too repetitive in mission structure.
Biohazard8860  +   690d ago
Atleast with AC3 they built a new engine, and AC4 will make the engine even better.

So many gamers these days hate games.
Lwhit6  +   690d ago
I think we've just gotten too picky as a society. These games are freaking sweet!! We're just taking advantage of them for what they really are.
Lwhit6  +   690d ago
I disagree. This series is pretty unique in the gaming industry (unlike call of duty where first person shooters are a dime a dozen). I do think, however, that in 3-4 years if they keep spitting out a game every year that it's going to get old. They're going to need to take a break sooner or later, but not now.
Sadist3  +   690d ago
The game is boring, the AI wasn't good at all. The developers had something good on their hand, but screwed it up. They keep making the same lackluster game because everyone keeps buying it. The game is very easy, I think it's more for casual players or something. And it's really repetitive.
feraldrgn  +   690d ago
If they use the same climbing mechanic they used in 3 (climbing everything you touch, without button input), I will be disappointed.

Not to say it won't be a good game if they do that, it's just that AC is about climbing & assassination.
