EA considers offline mode for SimCity

SimCity was a controversial release for EA, primarily due to the game needing to be connected to the internet at all times. Customers complained about not being able to access servers, experiencing lag, and generally being an inconvenience. Though the game itself was generally well received, many feel the game suffered due to this always-online feature.

However, as shown in this post on Reddit, there’s a chance that EA are considering implementing an offline mode in the future. In a survey sent out to customers, EA listed an offline option as a feature that players could express interest in implementation. (EA, PC)

Do that, and I'll buy it. It's as simple as that.

If they are going to do this then they need a re release similar to what they are doing to FF14 ARR

Need to show you've learnt from your mistakes and your ready to start over

By the way I don't mean make the versions people have bought useless, I just mean fire up the marketing again and maybe release a version with a steelbook and some goodies.

I don't see why they don't do a console version...that IS NOT dumbed down. They say it's because it's not good without a mouse and keyboard but I'll be the judge of that

Should have been in from the start. Poor decision, very poor. They've suffered for it, and rightly so.

Do it! That's the only way I'm buying it.

Great, now they just need to set the maximum city size to something rational, make it so that I can't just build nothing but residential homes without any utilities and still somehow have the city grow into high rises, bring back the option of landscaping, and actually give me the option to cause disasters.
