Xbox One exclusive Quantum Break offers Max Payne-style shooting, Alan Wake-style storytelling

oxm: "According to Myllyrinne, the game "builds on two core elements of what makes Remedy what it is". "We've taken a lot of the learnings about interactive storytelling from Alan Wake and we hope to raise the bar further," he said. "We've taken a lot of the learnings about cinematic combat and shooting mechanics from Max Payne to push those further. We're building on those for what will hopefully be the ultimate Remedy experience."

It sounds a lot like MGS4: play a bit, watch a cinematic, play a bit, watch a cinematic.

Don't misunderstand: MGS4 is one of my favorite games of all time. That's just what it sounds like.

Muffins12231963d ago

I guess at a basic level yes they are the same but the gameplay is not like metal gear solid

HammadTheBeast1963d ago

Seems interesting. I was worried that the game play would be impacted by them focusing on the "TV" side for the cablebox but if its like Max Payne I'll definitely look out for this.

Neoninja1964d ago

I hope they show more of this game soon. It really has caught my intention. I like how the cut scenes are going to be interactive as well.
All I ask now is to see some gameplay and I'd be set.

mcstorm1963d ago

I agree this game is getting me more and more interested. im now at a point where I was getting 2 games with my one Forza 5 and another. The other was Watch dogs but this is now making me want this game more.

Iltapalanyymi1964d ago

think this is going to be a timed exclusive on xbone. coming to pc like 1 or 2 years later.

Kalowest1963d ago

MS is the publisher of Quantum Break, so if it is released on PC, it's because MS allowed it!

Iltapalanyymi1963d ago

yeah you are right. alan wake had the same thing.

HammadTheBeast1963d ago

Then again, MS also published Mass Effect and Ninja Gaiden, look how that turned out.

cyguration1963d ago

HammadTheBeast makes a good point.

Microsoft publishing games doesn't really hold the same weight as say, Sony or Nintendo publishing games.

They gave up some of their exclusives over the course of the Xbox 360's lifespan.

Quantum Break might be the same way.

jetlian1963d ago

lol ninja gaiden got by by having extra content aka sigma. And even then a lot was changed.

Mass effect took 5 years and was released in a collection which MS couldn't do anything about.

Gear never made it. Question is how much MS willing to pay to block it

yes we'll wait 2 o 3 years to play this game no matter if it turns out to be an amazing game /s

PFFT1963d ago (Edited 1963d ago )

So did Dead Rising and i dont see it anywhere else but on the 360 . So i wouldnt hold my breath wishing for it to see the light on a PS4. AND even if it does get released it wont be till in about 4-5 years give or take.

Mr_Nuts1964d ago

I like the look of this game but I'm scared that because of this and the fact they'll do what they were going to do to Alan Wake, DLC in the shape of "episodes" that Alan Wake 2 won't be coming for a long time.

I mean the game and it's DLC ended on a cliff hanger...we need Alan Wake 2, I just feel like MS didn't want to publish it and told Remedy they'll only publish something new since Alan Wake wasn't a "system seller" if you get what I mean.

Kalowest1963d ago

I think MS will allow AW2 after seeing how Quantum Break does! But if you think about it, if AW did sell really terrible, do you think MS would be working with Remedy again?

Mr_Nuts1963d ago (Edited 1963d ago )

Alan Wake 2 will come but my point is it could be ages away which is a shame

*** do you think MS would be working with Remedy again ***

Well it only did bad in sales but reviews were very positive so it's not like they created a bad game. MS would of given them a second chance, that's what I was saying above they probably said something like "we'll work with you again HOWEVER create something new".

Besides MS needed more games on the Xbox One because at the time they had the whole DRM thing going on which they, at the time when getting Remedy to create a new IP, hadn't announced the feature, so I highly doubt they wouldn't work with Remedy again. They are probably hoping Remedy creates the next best thing to Max Payne.

fermcr1963d ago (Edited 1963d ago )

According to Remedy, Alan Wake sold 4+ million copies of the game. That's not bad. I expect Alan Wake 2 to arrive in the future... hope it doesn't take long.

As for Quantum Break, it looks interesting. Remedy always release good games.

jetlian1963d ago

my guess is MS is gonna do a year of each like the gears/halo set up! QB then AW and so on.

As for the gameplay this was what I was expecting. AW and MP were both tps. This is both combined with what maybe a LA noire mix

CrossingEden1963d ago

um, you do realize that alan wake 2 wasn't released because not only was the company working on max payne 3 but they ALSO were working on this

Mr_Nuts1963d ago

Remedy was not involved with Max Payne 3...Rockstar was.

If they were involved then it would of actually felt like a Max Payne game

ziggurcat1963d ago

max payne 3 was rockstar, not remedy.

Clover9041963d ago

Remedy's Sam Lake already addressed this.

Watch it and weep, and know I feel your pain. Give us an Alan Wake novel Sam Lake!

Kalowest1963d ago

Why does the way he talk reminds me of Christopher Walken!!!

I do love me some Alan Wake. Replaying it on nightmare now. Max Payne on the other hand, I loved the gameplay on the Rockstar made MP3
