Gaming's 50 Greatest Guinness World Record

Next-Gen.biz writes: "From the weird to the wonderful, Next-Gen gives you our rundown of the world's 50 greatest gaming records.

Let's get one thing straight from the start: this is not simply a list of the highest arcade scores for Pac-Man or Q*Bert, nor is it a collection of the fastest speed runs on Halo or Doom. While such records are interesting, this list is more a celebration of the types of records which show what a cultural phenomenon gaming has become and one that celebrates the diverse characters that make up the global gaming community, with some historical landmarks, sales and technological feats, and a little bit of the bizarre thrown in for good measure.

If you're not a fan of the words first, largest, highest or longest then this may not be the feature for you. On the other hand, if you're keen to find out the length of the longest prison sentence handed out for playing a videogame, how big the largest collection of owned, playable gaming systems is, or just how much money the world's top professional gamers earn, then you've come to the right place."

Where's "World's Biggest Fanboy"?

I'm sure n4g has plenty of possible contenders for that one...

Seriously though, I might have to pick a copy of this up, Guinness Book of Records make for the finest toliet reading money can buy (lol yes that was the serious bit).

The biggest fanboy on n4g is the person who has the most people ignoring them, thats the way i see it. I personally have an almanac 05 for toilet reading but i plan on upgrading to 07... wonder what it will say about the wii, ps3, & 360.....

lol, well I'm currently reading David Hasslehoff's autobiography the miss' bought me.

What a girl!

I'm one of those fanboys and I can't stand "cant we all just get along" hippy pasafist. You guys don't have any pride in team colors, and, you are usualy the first to surrender and turn coat.

Cheering for a football team is one thing. Cheering for a mega-corporation that screws you over from time to time is ridiculous (Don't try to pick that last statement apart, I was talking about all 3)

There's nothing wrong with being a fanboy, as long as you know your stuff and don't make straight out idiotic claims. Good luck finding that combination.

Arn't sports teams a multi billion dollar buisness in it for the money? So it's ok to cheer for them even though they are taking your dollar, but it's not ok to cheer for a gaming console even though they are taking that same dollar?

Now you know why I made that first comment.
