Five April Fool's Day Apparent Hoaxes That Aren't

PCWORLD writes:

"Start with news that Sony may be planning yet another PlayStation 3 model per an FCC filing submitted last Saturday. GamePro reports that model "CECHE01" could end up being just a quiet update to the existing architecture, but points out that Sony requested the filing be kept mum "to avoid premature release of sensitive information prior to marketing or the release of the product to the public." If the speculation turns out to be true, it would make this Sony's sixth iteration of a console barely 1.5 years old."

I believe the new PS3 news but the Xbox 360 blu add on ? thats a tougher sell for me.

Yeah, I definitely believe the new PS3 revision. Many of its components were cutting edge when they came out, so it's not hard to believe hardware updates would come that would drive down their manufacturing and production costs thanks to Moore's Law.

Keep it reasonable, and I'll buy a 360 Blu-Ray add-on.

Just out of curiosity, at the 1.5 year mark, how many 360 models were there?

Blu-Ray for the 360, win-win for everyone.

"Just out of curiosity, at the 1.5 year mark, how many 360 models were there?"

At that point, there were three: Core, Pro, and Elite. Since then, we've seen a "new Core" (the Arcade) and the Halo 3 edition. Don't be surprised if we see more models from both MS and Sony. (Nintendo, too, but they don't seem to be doing too badly with one model).

Seems to me that one of the defining characteristics of this console generation is the frequent changing of models.

Blu Ray add on for the 360?

hard to believe that is Microsoft swallowing its pride for the benefit
of their consumers?

$ony can't figure out what they want to do so they are going to hog shelf space and confuse consumers. I hope that many will do like I suspect and say F U to $ony and the CRAPSTATION (tm) and buy a 360.
