TeamXbox writes: "And they say there are no original ideas left in the puzzle genre. At a time when most companies are content to sit back and simply copy the formula of one hit puzzle title for the casual market time and again, Slapdash Games, the folks responsible for the new XBLA puzzler TiQal, have taken on the daunting task of copying TWO popular games, and tossing in a healthy dose of ancient history for good measure.
In TiQal, players use a slider at the top of the playfield to drop blocks of different shapes, colors and sizes onto the field. At first glance, it looks a lot like Tetris, though instead of trying to fill in spaces to create horizontal lines, players are trying to create rectangular blocks of like colors. In this fashion, TiQal takes its cue from another popular puzzler, Lumines, in that after matching up blocks of color, players have a few extra seconds to add to the shimmering shape before it explodes in a flash of light."
