Games Shrine - That 'Bully' game that Rockstar made is good, isn't it?

'Bully is my favourite Rockstar game. By a country mile. Controversial opinion? Well, possibly. But Rockstar Vancouver's PS2 playground-'em-up grabbed me in a way that more celebrated and hyped titles such as GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption have failed to do, and -- I must shamefacedly admit -- it is the only Rockstar game I've ever been motivated enough to complete.

Years after its release, I'm still playing Bully -- now on the Wii's 'Scholarship Edition' after playing it originally on the PlayStation 2 -- and it's not got the biggest open-world to explore, nor is its fighting system particularly deep or nuanced. So why am I still playing it? Well, I think I just enjoy the school setting. Not in a suspicious beard-and-glasses-combo-lurkin g-outside-the-school-gates kind of way, it's just nice to be in an environment that hasn't already been done to death -- and it's a sad indictment on the games industry that titles such as Bully come along so rarely.' - Matt Suckley

Ex-Rockstar Dev Finally Explains Why Small Planes Randomly Crashed in GTA San Andreas

Former Rockstar Games Technical Director Obbe Vermeij has finally revealed why some planes would randomly crash in GTA: San Andreas.

Profchaos12d ago

This fly by feature was on the cutting room floor due to the random plane crashes and it's one of those things I'm so thankful made it into the final version as these random fly by and crashes make the world seem more alive on the extremely limited PS2 hardware you needed everything you could possibly get in a open world to convey that feeling.

And accross hundreds of hours of gameplay I probably died around 3 times as a result of these fly by failures but I loved every time it happened

It made the world feel more human, and honestly kinda insane that even today with all these open world games, almost no one can capture that like R* even when compared to their ps2 games

Lol, I remember those. I vaguely remember dying from one crashing into my car once too.

L.A. Noire And Bully — Rockstar's Lost Gems That Deserve A Sequel As Much As GTA

Hanzala from eXputer: "I do appreciate GTA 6, Rockstar, but if I could trade it for a new L.A. Noire or a Bully game, I'd do so in a heartbeat."

Skuletor11d ago

How are they lost? You can get L.A. Noire on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch and Bully is on the PS5 and Xbox Series too.

Psychonaut8511d ago

I want a new Manhunt game. But that will never happen.

Demetrius11d ago

Mfs are too sensitive nowadays and would cry instead of being concerned bout real world problems

Demetrius11d ago

Whenever gta 6 launch we won't be getting another rockstar title for another 10 years lol but on the positive side they bou to come back n show how open world supposed to be done 🔥

Skuletor11d ago

I won't expect any singleplayer DLC like IV's The Lost & Damned or The Ballad of Gay Tony after it launches either

Bully: Scholarship Edition - Desperately in Need of a Sequel

Bully: Scholarship Edition was an Xbox 360 & Wii re-release of the PS2 classic. Still playable on modern consoles, it'll make you long for a sequel.

TheBrainZ50d ago

A sequel? More likely a remake as is the current trend? No point, everyone wants GTA VI.

kevco3350d ago

It's a shame that basically all of Rockstar's catalogue apart from GTA and Red Dead is now, well, dead.

Redgrave50d ago

The R☆ of today is extremely unlikely to put out any project that isn't GTA because of the gaming climate and because GTA is stupidly self sustaining.

Gone are the days of a mainline title and a portable tie-in/standalone title of the same name just like publishers putting out multiple fighters at once.

Costs are too high and mainline titles have become too gargantuan to allow for "risks" on lesser titles that may not take off or sell.

Take Capcom for example, and SF6. We are unlikely to ever see a new installment of their other fighters like Rival School or Darkstalkers because SF6 is more popular, recognized and costly. A new Darkstalkers in the RE Engine would look sick as f*ck, and would visually be unlike any other fighter if done right. Sadly though, it's not as recognizable as SF and Capcom is unlikely to put so much on the line for something that might not catch.

If there’s to be a sequel it should be at the college/university level. Otherwise its just going to be a rehash of the same progression and story.
