Will Anyone Miss the PS4 Camera?

"Our inbox has been flooded with people asking about the PS4 camera, so today’s Daily Reaction is going to be all about the $60 peripheral, how it’ll stack up against the bundled Kinect 2, and whether cameras are actually any good for anything." - PSLS

I posted this before, diggs knightcrawler for wonder book would've been interesting with the ps eye 2 as the ds4 can imitate the ps move.

LOGICWINS1938d ago

Didn't know you two spoke for all gamers. Some people will(people like me who are fans of Move). Most won't care since they don't care about Move.

AznGaara1938d ago

It's also needed to video chat while you beak cast your games so I'm definitely getting it down the road.

Kleptic1938d ago (Edited 1938d ago )

I bought the PS3 eye the first day i saw it in stores...for a single purpose...a GREAT device for 'remote pants-optional friday' parties...a college tradition that we still do to this day...

invite a bunch of girls to your place for a friday evening party...pants optional, no pressure either this with your gf, and her friends, that way its not as creepy...if you're single, or your gf isn't in to won't work...PS3 on, TV off, for the first 2 or so whatever you normally do at a party for the time being...after a certain amount of your TV on...which just so happens to already be connected to 3 or more other friends doing the exact same thing, some of which were across the country...a party of 15 to 20 just turned into to 60+...the slightly intoxicated females will begin to feel threatened for attention, and begin to compete with remote females from anywhere on the planet...and you benefit, nothing else to say...i've honestly witnessed possibly the world's first remote cat fight from my living room...between two girls that have never, and will never, meet each other...

and then move...i didn't buy it, but borrowed it form a friend...sucked...sorry...wasn 't into waggling a Wii'mote w/e thing...was no better on a Ps3 even with staggeringly better visuals... won't miss it with the Ps4...hopefully i'll be able to use the eye i already bought to continue the tradition...but if i can't, i'll take it as a sign that its simply time to grow up...

There is simply NO other reason to have a camera hooked up to a video game console than what i just detailed above...

...wait. So u invited a bunch of girls to your place and u didn't tell them to bring marshmellows?

Sick bastard!

Even longer answer: nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooo.

Ju1938d ago (Edited 1938d ago )

I will. But I'll make this easy and just buy me one.

Eddie201011938d ago

Don't have to miss it, it will be available to anyone who wishes to purchase one, they just don't have to purchase one if don't want to.

Maybe they will come up with something that makes really good use of it,from what I have heard it has some pretty advanced features, some that Kinect doesn't have, plus it's an inexpensive web cam ($59.00) that can do other things.

For some reason, the camera fits perfectly with Wall-E.

NYC_Gamer1938d ago

What are the features of the PS4 cam?

GreenRanger1938d ago (Edited 1938d ago )

It looks at your wife.

That's about it, really.

LOGICWINS1938d ago

We likely won't know until they debut a game that supports it. Im assuming Shadow Fall supports it, but Move support won't be talked about until Gamescom.

But ur right. Sony hasnt explained why I need to buy yet another camera for $60 as opposed to the one I already have.

Ju1938d ago (Edited 1938d ago )

Dual cameras at 1280x800 each @ 60fps. Or faster with lower res ( ). Same mic array as old. Proprietary plug (not USB) because of higher bandwidth requirements.

Well, and backwards compatible with Move.

ftwrthtx1938d ago

With the PS4 bringing Skype, you might actually want the camera.

Ju1938d ago (Edited 1938d ago )

Since Skype is owned by MS this will hardly happen.

Pretty sure Vita must have had an obligation due to the fact it was on the PSP. But it never was on console. And with the stiff competition that the XBone will get, I am quite sure MS won't give up the only competitive advantage they have.

TheUndertaker851938d ago

People said the same thing about the Vita, yet here we are with a Skype app for Vita that does get updated and supported.

MS knows they can make money off of Skype regardless.

-Alpha1938d ago

^ Was Skype for VITA before the MS purchase?

Also, if I'm not mistaken, Skype for VITA is maintained and "run" by Sony.
Doubt we'll see it come to PS4 at all, if MS has anything to do with it.

GreenRanger1938d ago

I wouldn't get the PS4 if it was mandatory, and the Kinect is the only thing stopping me from getting an Xbox One, now.

LOGICWINS1938d ago

If your not interested in Kinect 2 then I don't know why you would be interested in the Xbox One. Exclusives like Quantum Break(and future Xbox One exclusives) REQUIRE the camera because its integrated into the experience.

Thegamer411938d ago

That's his point, since Kinect is mandatory developers are trying to integrate it into games and a lot of people are not interested in the Kinect. It would be a different story if kinect wasn't mandatory.

Tyre1938d ago

Well spoken GreenRanger! Me too.
