Is the Adoption of eSports Principles Killing Fun?

Does stripping a game down to its barebones, employing a rock-paper-scissors dynamic, and leaving out authenticity or realism make an RTS game less fun? Should all RTS titles aspire to be eSports titles? What's left for the rest of us? (Company of Heroes 2, Dev, PC, RTS)

Yes, most definitely. Changing games or developing games with eSports in mind prohibits the experience.
