The Worst "Good Guys" in Gaming

The video gaming industry has some of the most amazing heroes in the entire universe. Heroes like Link, Master Chief, and Rachet have put their own issues aside to save the world from any evil aiming to destroy it. They are valiant and brave people who care about nothing else but saving the day, however these heroes vary tremendously from other types of heroes in the gaming industry. I am referring to the heroes who murder, steal, and pretty much do whatever they feel necessary to get the job done. Often they are selfish and rude, well by this time you understand I am writing about the loved, and hated, antihero. The troubled souls that have forged these antiheroes have caused a monumental shift in the industry creating a following for the heroes that kill. As a fan of the antihero I wanted to share with you some of the worst “good guys” in gaming that I have grown to love. (Hitman: Absolution, Industry, PC, PS3, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog, The Last Of Us, Watch Dogs, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360)

Both Prototype heroes. I actually kinda like Mercer, (mostly on account of the plot twist) but it's hard to defend someone who drives over innocent people in a tank without acknowledgement. And then Prototype 2 happens and the writers clearly don't want you to like him at all. In fact, I think I don't like the guy in Prototype 2 just for being the guy in Prototype 2.

Max Payne, in the third one. The family you're protecting just survive a kidnapping attempt? Better grab another drink!

Same here. I heard that Mercer actually tried to help get rid of the virus after the first game (explained in some comics). After his questionable actions in New York I would've liked it if he was looking for some sort of redemption and we to continue with that in the sequel. Instead he became a fully-fledged , master race obsessed villain because he was betrayed by a woman.

They pushed us to like the 2nd guy but it's hard to care for the father-daugther angle when the dad is killing everyone around him. Every tear-jerking moment is overshadowed by the tons of blood of innocent bystanders.
