AMD Phenom X4 9850 Review: 'Finally A Phenom Processor That Runs Right' - Legit Review

When the AMD Phenom series of processors launched back on November 19th, 2007 no one could have expected just how rough things were about to get for AMD. First, they sent out Phenom 9900 processors to the press that were was unable to keep up with the Intel Core 2 series of processors. Second, the Phenom 9700/9800/9900 processors that AMD sent out to the media were pulled at the last second and replaced with the lower clocked Phenom 9600 (2.3GHz) and Phenom 9500 (2.2GHz).

Great review. I was right in picking AMD over intel. Good stuff.

Not to burst your bubble but....

my chip is the Q6600, and was just as good, and better at almost everything compared to the 9850.. and my q6600, i can overclock it to 3.0ghz, and ive even read of people getting to 3.6ghz... so... sorry bud. Your wrong.

AMD still has to get there sh!t together.

Still competitive in the mid-range area but seriously AMD needs to do something drastic. I'm still shocked how much Core2 turned the tide back for Intel.

They're on a roll. I just really don't want them to enter the Graphic chips... ATI/ Nvidia is enough especially when they turn them out every 10 months. To much saturation.

Let's go AMD get back on top!!

Does it really matter to be a diehard fan? just buy the one thats on top. It'll make the other side try harder.

How is the other company is broke? AMD needs money bad...they can't keep on borrowing money just to stay afloat.

Every since the Intel Core 2 has been on the scene AMD has been struggling. But this is a good thing. I'm happy AMD got smacked around because they were getting "big headed". AMD was always the value chip until the Athlon chips, then they charged more than anything Intel had. Now the tables are reversed.

If the price is right on the AMD chip, I'm going to scoop one...we must have both of these companies around to keep the price down...period.
