Matter Of Perspective: Enslaved Odyssey To The West

Enslaved Odyssey To The West is loosely based on Journey To The West, which is generally considered to be one of the four greatest classical Chinese novels. The original story follows the Chinese monk Xuanzang on his quest to retrieve Buddhist scriptures from a temple in India. He is accompanied by his disciples, two of whom you would recognise in Monkey and Pigsy. The quest’s theme is the pursuit of knowledge and a journey of discovery. (Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, PS3, Xbox 360)

A rather interesting way of looking at it. You certainly get points for at least not taking the "Alex Garland wrote it so it's great" route I've seen from so many others.

When it comes to Pyramid and that whole area of discussion, I'm still at ends with it. The philosophical stuff is "there," but it's all just text dump at the very end. When trying to expound on the entrampment/freedom motif, you should have the bigger picture more ingrained with everything going on (beyond the quick shots from the mask collectibles). I want to hear richer fables about what Monkey and Trip believe happened, foreshadowing occurring more often, etc.
