Here are a handful of simple features now possible due to new technology that would really pique our interest in next-gen consoles.
I agree. #1. Boobies
Wow, the first page seriously nailed it right on the top of the head. This is what I have been saying for a good number of years now. Ever since Netflix started streaming movies. Why can't games have the same service? Lets hope that somewhere down the line in this new generation we see this type of service.
Sony has Gaikai, which will eventually stream every PS3, PS2, and PS1 title. It will launch at the beginning of next year with the PS3 titles
I was more referring to the game rental type od service. But yes the whole Gaikai is a good start.
Pretty glad they gave a mention to cross console multiplayer. It would mean you could play with your friends on a lot of games regardless of what console you have. Definitely my most wanted feature!
How the heck would PSN people add Live people on their friend's list? If everybody wanted this, they'd just stick to a universal platform... the PC.
Hmm, that's true there'd have to be some cooperation between Sony and MS. Would be a massive selling point for me if they worked something out... not gonna happen though.
Why would you have to add them as a friend? Wouldn't it be much easier for devs to allow more options for invite? IE if they're on the same system simple invite like now. If not add an option in game to enter the username for person on (insert platform name here)? Not saying I like the idea either way as some experiences would be fine with cross play, example being Portal 2. Could you imagine a CoD with that cross play though? I'm sure the wars would start there and frankly, I'd stay away from a lot of third party games at that point for that simple fact. "You play on (insert console name here)? Hur hur hur."
I don't think it's a matter of adding people to your friends list, but more to do with allowing gamers from all consoles to play on the same server if possible. PC, PS4, X1, and Wii U players all in the same multiplat games would be a great boon for gaming, and there could even be vs. competitions.
The first two are already being talked about, just not for launch. The third could happen without the need for an accessory, just reverse Remote Play. The forth flat out shouldn't happen because of the wars it'd open up. The fifth is asking for more controllers on one system but what for? PS3 technically supports up to seven controllers at once but don't think anything ever allowed that many. If you're looking for huge groups like that anyway just get a second console and either LAN/Online play together.
For the record i rent all my games. Gamefly i have used for the last 3 years & have played 207 games this gen costs me $25 per month. Games cost me around $5.50 per game.
Amen, I also preach the word of Gamefly.
The ability to gift people games on PSN & XBLA is the simplest thing I want.
Mods for consoles equivalent to PC's. THIS would be a game changer! I could definitely see Sony using this approach. Not too sure about Microsoft.
Of the 2 ,it's the PS4 that is the more enticing as it is. Will hold on ( for now ) with the XBox ONE until I see/read unbiased reports from first-buy gamers'. Honestly don't find Wii U enticing since it's mostly the same rehashed games.. just my opinion.
