Spartacus Legends is free to play, but expensive in micro-transactions

Ubisoft recently launched “Spartacus Legends”, an arena brawl game that’s free on Xbox Live. It’s a fighting style game set in ancient Greece where you take on the role of Gladiators fighting for victory and freedom. It’s a nice game, especially for being free (besides the 2GB HD requirement), but it’s in the extra costs of the game that you almost welcome death. (Spartacus Legends, Xbox 360)

I noticed this too last night when I figured I'd DL it b/c it's free. $150 is a bit much.

It's absolutely insane. Why is it even allowed?
Emilio_Estevez  +   541d ago
It is, but someone will pay it. Someone who has the $ to burn and likes the game will buy it. It's been proven time and time again.

This is very true. But surely they need to find the right middle ground to optimise their profits. Selling high and less could be better at selling low and more but there must be something in between that will make them more profit and be more reasonable for gamers.

I can't see too many people forking out the dosh.

EDIT: I just go a notification for replying to my own comment lol

I tried the game and deleted it the same night.

The fighting is aggravating and most times if you fight someone online, their internet connection is so fucking shitty(Or the games servers) that they just use lag against you and in most cases they attack you before/after you block without the animations even showing until after it's too late. The fighting is god-fucking awful and the micro-transactions are basically Pay2Win in the dumbest way possible that it makes me shameful that it came from UBISOFT. Who the fuck would buy the gold they offer as DLC on PSN for like, what? $150? $100? $50? Their prices are so steep as if they expect the game to be so addicting that laying down THAT MUCH CASH is feasible?

No, just....don't even TRY playing this game even if it is free. Stay the fuck away from this garbage, it's on the quality level of WarZ.

the game is awesome its free, any choice people make to spend money is on them they range from 5 to 150 bucks. the coins bought dont make it pay to win as the things you can buy are locked behind achieving a level first so you must go through the leveling up. people need to get a grip the gane is FREE

Welcome to Free-to-Play/Pay-to-Win games, next-gen will be flooded with them unfortunately.

Edit: @ the above poster
you can't unlock everything, some items (the best in game) HAVE to be paid for with real money hence being a Pay-to-Win game.

Just like Marvel Alliance on Facebook. You have to pay to upgrade your heroes and to be strong to compete in PVP Tournaments.
