In a move that's sure to make a frothing mess out of many jealous Square-Enix fans in North America and Europe, Square Enix's SNES classics Final Fantasy VI and Secret of Mana are now available on the Wii U Virtual Console...in Japan.
Secret of Mana, or Seiken Densetsu 2 as it is called over there, is going for 800 yen while Final Fantasy VI, a fan favorite, will require 900 of fans' precious yen/gil. Like all SNES Wii U Virtual Console titles, these games support save states, GamePad play, the Wii U Pro Controller and the Wii Classic Controller.
There's currently no word on when North America will see these games, but they're still available on the Wii Shop Channel, sans GamePad support. I went ahead and contacted Square Enix for any info on a stateside release.
Speaking of classic Square Enix games on Virtual Console, where's Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma at? I've been waiting!
