Puissance Nintendo posted its interview with Super Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai, which was conducted at E3 2013. Sakurai talked about how the Wii U and 3DS versions came to be, DLC, patching, why the Villager and Wii Fit Trainer made it in, and more. Sakurai’s comments can be found below. Of course noone opposes extra money. Unless your Microso....nevermind they LOVE money the most. Nintendo could do this and fans will still buy the dlc.

That just shows how nice he is.

He BETTER not be opposed to patching (if the game is unbalanced or has glitches). It's the 21st century, there's no excuse to not patch your game (assuming it needs patching, that is).

The incredible story of how Smash Bros Wii U / 3DS came to be:

Iwata, at E3: "We will launch two new Smash Bros games, one for Wii U and another for 3DS! Sakurai-san is doing it".

Sakurai: "wat"

Sakurai on whether or not players will be able to create their own content such as levels or characters…

"I’m sorry, but we cannot talk about this at the moment."

IT'S GONNA HAPPEN!!!!!! But I'm not confirming that.

The fact they aren't talking about it means:

A.) They are working on it and aren't sure if it will make the final game

B.) They already have started implementing such features in game but want to save the announcement for a later date to build up momentum for the final release.

I'm sure they want to...it needs to fit the game though and bring something to the game without taking anything away, or without making anything worse.

The reason they focus on these choices so much is that Super Smash Brothers games are a once a console type of game.

There isn't going to be a smash brothers in 2015,2016,2017ect......so they need to get it right without relying on patches like other dev's do.

umm, level creation was in brawl. i don't know why this would surprise you. (it would be very easy and intuitive on the gamepad!)

I know. I'm excited for creating your own character.

Free DLC or no DLC at all.

A absolutely hate DLC for fighting games. Buying characters and costumes is a pain. If it was more optional, say either Pay to get the character/stage right away OR play the game to unlock it for 10000 smash coins, then it wouldn't be so bad. No DLC, imo, means a complete game and so far the smash bros games have all felt complete. Brawl was just bursting with extra collectable content like Music and stickers. It celebrated Nintendo's history. It didn't need DLC to survive as long as it did.

DLC will have to be TRUE extra content, like an expansion or something for me to pay money for it. If DOA5: Ultimate was a $15 DLC expansion, I would get it.

If there is disc locked content that we HAVE to buy (characters/stages), I'm not opposed to hacking the Wii-u to get it. Hacking your game disc to unlock characters that are already on the disc is not illegal after all.

If the DlC is like a year late and comes with 5 new characters,5new stages, and Soundtracks that correspond to the added characters then i would buy that. So Far i trust Nintendo with DLC.
