Animal Crossing: New Leaf is ridiculously fun, but why?

The recently released Animal Crossing: New Leaf is fun but if you think about the game's core mechanics, it probably shouldn't be. (3DS, Animal Crossing: New Leaf)

I still don't really understand why It's so fun. It almost falls into the Pokemon category of games in terms of collecting.

It's fun because you don't really have to rush to do anything. If this were say Pokemon (since you mentioned it), there would always be new Pokemon to fight, people to level, championships to win and even then you can spend endless hours searching a small patch of land for a shiny whatever.

Animal Crossing is a bit different, since there really isn't a need to catch every fish or even fish in general. You can spend hours working on making your place perfect or just 10 minutes a day seeing whats up in your town. I think that's the key difference, since there is usually a finite number of things you can do in Animal Crossing a day, so you get a constant, reliable and fairly enjoyable experience you can relax to.

I don't know, there is something very absorbing about AC.

Its relaxing to play it after a hard day at work.

I'm almost tempted to get this game. Something about it just feels good and relaxing. Maybe next time I go to GameStop.

Is this the game fils aim did a video of his home on the other day? If it is their is nothing exciting about putting your face on your bed sheet or rolling back and forth on your bed.

I just cant see the charm in this game..

The game isn't about putting your face on your bed sheet.
