I’m Worried About Killer Instinct

Sean Halliday of Gamer Euphoria writes:

''Killer Instinct is one of those games that carries a sense of nostalgia. It’s a game that entertained many during their youth but also stood out for its iconic announcer and ridiculous combos. It was often seen as a more fun alternative to already established beat ‘em ups, so when Killer Instinct 2013 (let’s call it that for the sake of reference) was revealed, the 90s child within me was excited, hyped, pumped…you get the idea.''

Am i the only one worried :?

jc485731972d ago

what concerns me is the developers behind the game. Double Helix is just a mediocre developer at best.

GamerEuphoria1972d ago

Indeed, maybe they'll surprise everyone....though i doubt it

pr0t0typeknuckles1972d ago (Edited 1972d ago )

are they a terrible company like nihilistic, what games have they made?

georgeenoob1972d ago (Edited 1972d ago )

What do you guys expect out of a fighting game? The genre isn't nearly as innovating and incredible as it used to be a few generations ago and I don't think it ever will be.

Morgue1971d ago

Didn't they do Soldier of Fortune 2? Double Helix.

Nah your not the only one. Killer Instinct is a game for nintendo. xbox will surely mess it up like they did with conkers bad fur day and perfect dark. After seeing the trailers I'd rather play the old original killer instinct over the new one.

Majin-vegeta1972d ago

Exactly thats why im waiting for the Retron 5 yo relase so i can get one.My SNES finally died after 15+ years :/.

RM-TatoTiburon1972d ago

mess it up like conker?? never played it con xbox right? that game was amazing and the multiplayer huge!

TXIDarkAvenger1972d ago

Don't forget Banjo-Kazooie.

It's really sad to see what one of your favourite childhood games has become now. MS killed Rare.

You might want to check this out:

You can even play with any gamepad as well as online play.

Just make sure you have a friend that is in the same state or county is even better. Long distances will make the game/s lag.

Also, check this out for the guys that are worried about it:

It looks extremely competitive and fun. I kinda let this fly under my radar until I actually took a deeper look at it.

Max explains it fairly well here too:

If MS did care about Killer Instinct, they wouldn't hire Double Helix. People are falling for the hype like they did in the first place about the "family plan" and exclusive launch titles. They need to think about what MS did for the 360 because they might repeat the same BS where they simply stop shelling out more exclusives. They have more "third party" exclusives than first party exclusives and that's nothing special. Gamers need to think long run.

ElegantDecisis1972d ago

Family sharing was innovative.

Mr_Nuts1972d ago (Edited 1972d ago )

When it's being made by a terrible your not

Even if it's bad and it does well it's only because it's Killer just bugs me that all the devs MS could of gotten with their money and they go with Double Helix, I mean come on

RM-TatoTiburon1972d ago

Double Helix is working with Rare and also ken lobb, so don't worry the game will be fine...Do you know who is ken lobb right?

jc485731972d ago

really? they worked with the mastermind/creator of Front Mission and guess what happened to it.

Fireseed1972d ago

I don't know how any one has detractions... their fucking tons of footage of everyone playing it and ABSOLUTELY LOVING IT. How can you argue with that?

TXIDarkAvenger1972d ago

Well let's see;

Double Helix is a mediocre developer and most of the original Rare team left. Also Rare has turned into a mediocre company after their purchase by MS. I was excited at first but thinking about it now just makes me want to forget it exists.

Cueil1972d ago

all the fighting fans that have played it love it that I've heard from so I wouldn't worry to much

ElegantDecisis1972d ago

Here is the greatest thing of all. You can play the single player mode and go online and whoop tail for as long as you desire with Jago. And if all that sucks. You don't have to spend a dime.

Every time a fighting game is release is another time when somebody could take the genre to the next level and give us a gameplay experience we've never had or even thought we could have.

And every time a Fighting game is release, it's the same old stuff...over and over again with new characters and new "mechanics"...

Outside of Smash Brothers, the fighting genre has really gone nowhere.

Powerstone was unique but that faded with the Dreamcast.

PS Allstars at least tried to copy the only fighting game that is creative and innovative and unique...I'll give them credit for at least recognizing that and making a valiant effort. I've only played the demo at GS for 5 min but it was pretty fun.

Not Smash brothers fun, but more fun than average fighting game.

I think double helix finally found a genre they are good at.
From the looks of this game, its very polished, so i am not worried at all.

Since its a reboot, its also a complete restart for the developers, and they had to start from the ground up.
How many first try´s look this much fun.
I was amazed when i found out that double helix made this.

I am not worried at all, bring it on.

wishingW3L1972d ago

polished, really? The wolf is like super broken.

Fireseed1972d ago

Broken in alpha... keep trying.

Popoffboy1877181972d ago

Felonycarclub81972d ago

They can call it killer instinct but we all know that's not killer instinct, just like Rare. May they RIP
