Blu-ray Disc Sales Gain Ground on DVD

Since Blu-ray finally won the format war, next-gen disc sales are gaining market share from DVD in the home video market.

According to data from Nielsen VideoScan First Alert, Disney's Blu-ray title 'No Country for Old Men' drew 9.8 percent of its total unit sales from Blu-ray during its first five days in stores.

I think the increased sales of the PS3 have a lot to do with this. Looks like Blu-ray is here to stay.

of course blue ray is here to stay for at least the next 5 years or more!

and DD will be more popular but will not replace anything, not even a CD disks.

As a matter of fact it seems that there have been a lot of naysayers in the last few weeks. BD not needed. DVD is fine. DD is the next big thing. Yada yada yada!

It's just nice to see that sales are increasing at a steady pace.

I have always said Sony built a BR player 1st and a game system SECOND .........and until BR-dvd's drop under $20 bucks NOBODY is going to buy them like they do $15 dvd's
