Elder Scrolls Online First-Person & Third-Person Balance – An Impossible Task

The revealing of the Elder Scrolls Online first-person perspective was greeted with a warm reception and although I’m delighted that they decided to include it in the game, I’m also extremely concerned about balancing it with the typical MMO perspective, third-person. In the traditional Elder Scrolls titles offering both perspectives as a choice didn’t really alter game balance as it was down to the individuals preference but that same equation doesn’t work when it comes to MMO play; especially in a game that focuses on Realm vs Realm combat.

I don't think it's that big a deal. I plan to use first-person for PvE, and third-person for PvP.

I'll use third-person exclusively for situational awareness.

This is what worries me. As a MMO player, I imagine a lot of people would be fine for that. But those more interested in the Elder Scrolls aspect of the game, it could be a serious issue.

I don't get why this is a problem, because if you feel disadvantaged, you have the choice to switch.
